Disney World ticket rates upped another 25% this summer. And additional limits to certain classes of passes restrict already bloated prices and are gradually fencing off not only riff raff, but also regular budget limited families from going. This was not Walt’s vision.

Disney is also sucking the life from channels other than its own by removing its films from outlets like Netflix and Amazon, thus forcing consumers to subscribe to its pricey own. Not Walt’s vision either.

Soon many may be opting for a Disney free world. Hold on to your DVDs and keep a spare player on hand, folks.

Disney+ will start out at $6.99. That's way cheaper than any other streaming service.

As long as people as people are still going to the parks they can charge whatever they want. Speak with your wallet.

This isn't CBS All-Access we're talking about here. Disney owns so much that its streaming app will be huge. I don't see the big deal.

They actually have a pretty good ticket special going on right now. You can get a 6 day pass for each park and both water parks for $444, but it has to be used before August 28th. They're likely running that deal because the new Star Wars area won't be open until August 29th and they want more people to come before then.

They've also been trying to raise prices to decrease the numbers of people in the parks at any given time. They're overcrowded. I think they've finally figured out this won't work though because now they're floating the idea of having the parks stay open 24 hours a day.

Also, their workers "won" $15 an hour minimum wages to begin in 2021 in a recent collective bargaining.

Disney+ is going to be extremely affordable. What are you talking about?

People don't want to pay for content.

I'm dropping Netflix for it. Until it goes above the price Netflix currently charges me, which is $12 a month, I'll be happy with it.

With a starting point of $6.99 a month, I feel like it's going to be a while before we get there.

Disney Plus is half the price of Netflix.

Same. Netflix's original content is typically mediocre, and Disney will be removing their stuff. I just don't see the point of keeping Netflix once Disney+ gets started up.

And if you have kids, the fact that Disney+ is supposed to have their entire animated library on their app also is another punch in Netflix's gut.

Will they have add ons to cover their other services like live ESPN, SEC Network...

They will supposedly have packaged deals with ESPN+ and Hulu. I don't think the price has been finalized yet. Eventually that introductory price will go up.

It has been some time since I have been, and this is purely anecdotal, but the last 5 times folks I have known have gone to a Disney park its been stuffed to the gills with people.

The only exception is a 6th friend who went to Disney Europe during the off season and said it wasn't too bad.

Disney is charging what the market will bear and the market can't seem to get enough of it.

I have Disney nuts on both sides of my family. They go multiple times per year for the past 10+ years. Both agree that the parks have gotten consistently more crowded over the years even though they are constantly expanding into more space. If what they say is true then Disney is just trying to meet demand.
