Disney World ticket rates upped another 25% this summer. And additional limits to certain classes of passes restrict already bloated prices and are gradually fencing off not only riff raff, but also regular budget limited families from going. This was not Walt’s vision.
Sorry man. Gotta disagree here. First of like I already saw someone say the price increase is for Annual Passes.
Secondly it’s not THAT crazy costly. My wife and I are squarely in the middle class financially. We are taking our two boys this September for 7 nights at a moderate resort, 5 day park hoppers and free meal plan included for under 4K.
And we could have done the trip for as low as like $2500 if we stayed at value resort. Disney catches a lot of shite from a lot of different places. A lot of it deserved and a lot not. But this isn’t a valid argument.

Publicly traded. Their sole purpose is to make money for their shareholders.

I would pay double what I paid this spring if half the people would be there.

Disney is at the point where they can’t expand the parks fast enough to meet the crowd demands. In the past few years you’ve had major expansions or additions all over the place:
Magic Kingdom opened the new Fantasyland.
The my built Art of Animation hotel.
Animal Kingdom opened Pandora.
They added Vacation Club only lodging at multiple resorts.
They added a 500+ room tower at Coronado
Springs.
Multiple hotels got complete floor to ceiling renovations.
The Skyliner transportation project opens in a few months.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens 8/29.
EPCOT is next on the overhaul list and it’s coming sooner than later.
People can say what they want about Disney’s greed or whatever but no company operates on the same scale as they do while keeping their guests their top priority snd continually investing money back into its business.

They could have upped prices to Disney by 50% and people still would flock there.

Hell, they’re adding ski-lift type gondolas to several of their hotels that will take you straight to the parks without having to wait on a bus. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually added the gondolas to all of their hotels and resorts and got rid of the buses completely in order to save money on drivers and buses/gas. People complain about Disney, but they’re constantly adding tons and tons of shite to improve immersion and experience. They’re dominating business for a reason. Because they’re smarter, innovated, and listen to their guests.
I went this year for the first time in 13 years, since I was in middle school and couldn’t believe how it operated now as opposed to 13 years ago. The Magic Bands, the fast passes, the app, etc. I can’t imagine where it will be in another decade. They had some kind of deal that wouldn’t give them access to the use of most of the Marvel heroes in their parks until 2020 or 2021. So they’re about to get full access to all those properties. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the big addition they’re going to add to Epcot, which I’m sure will be Galaxy’s Edge level big

I think they've finally figured out this won't work though because now they're floating the idea of having the parks stay open 24 hours a day.
Would they actually do this?

I believe they just had a 24 hour park opening two weeks ago and they are talking about adding a few more dates.
I think they will offer more 24 hour openings in the future but they are probably going to have to limit it to a few times (at most) a week. An amusement park, especially Disney, requires a ton of maintenance to keep going. Once the park closes for the day they are working throughout the night to get it ready for the next morning.

Now that is a no-brainer. I would 100% take the 10 PM to 5 AM shift in the middle of July.

And fat. Lots of fatties. I would pay more if they would outlaw the fattiemobile scooters.
I don't think it's so bad. Maybe I just don't focus on that. My triggers are rude people and out of control kids.

They've been doing the 24hr thing once or twice or year for a while now. Usually around Memorial Day. We did it with our kids a few years ago. We slept in and then just hung out at the hotel all day and didn't get to the park until 9pm. We stayed until 6am. People are all gung ho from about midnight till 2am. From 2am - 6am we essentially had the place to ourselves. It was kind of awesome.
As for their ability to run the place. I attended one of those (what I thought would be) bs teamwork conferences with one of my hospital administration teams in 2016. It was in the fall and one of the things they made/let us do was watch how Disney goes from Halloween to Christmas literally overnight. We didn't focus on the park transformation as much as the warehouses where all of the organizational stuff is going on. It's mind blowing how many people they have working at one time and it was flawless. They accounted for everything down to flat tires on golf carts. In one of the food distribution centers they had this giant wall of tv screens with a layout map of Epcot and what goes where. Around each country pavillion they had these little graphs of the amount of plastic forks/knives/spoons & napkins are used on average per day and an estimated amount of cases to stock in the warehouse of each country. They just don't miss anything.

Truer words were never spoken. They have it down to an exact science at Disney.
As one writer said "If the zombie apocalypse happens go to a Disney theme park. Not only will they be running years after the cities fall but they probably have a plan in place to handle this."
Along with Waffle House and Chik-Fil-A Disney is a great example of how important organization is.

Disneyland/world maintenance stories are already jewels when I find them. I can only imagine the chain-smoking nightmare stories 24 hours open would have.

Yeah, that still happens.
We stayed on Big Thunder mountain for three passes and did three start tours in a row.
Hell I went to Disneyland on their busiest day this year and didn't wait more than an hour for a ride (though we skipped Space mountain with its 2+ hour lines)

The scooters have become a huge issue.
I would think they need designated scooter travel lanes.
