Here is an honest question. If a movie just doesn’t have the hype, where do you see a trailer for it anymore? People don’t watch commercials on tv anymore. People aren’t flocking to the theaters anymore so you aren’t seeing trailers there. I saw a trailer for this movie once a few months ago and forgot about it and I watch Disney+ a lot.

I think a small percentage of people make up a disproportionately high number of the annual movie goers - and they see multiple movies a month.

Meaning that you may just not know about upcoming movies unless you are one of that small number.

At this point, the Disney name/brand is so toxic, Top Gun 3 would flop.

Yea maybe you’re right, they knew it would bomb so they didn’t market it

Or they thought they would dominate the Thanksgiving holiday weekend like they always do and didn't need to market it.

I’m not surprised this bombed, not because I think it looks bad, but because I have no idea what it’s about because there’s been barely any marketing. And I have a 5 yr old and subscribe to Disney +, I am the target demographic.

Disney/Pixar used to promote their animated movies literally YEARS in advance, they would drop easter eggs in their other animated movies and start teasing their upcoming projects 2-3 years before it came out. This movie was barely marketed and I heard nothing about it until a few months ago.

I went to the theatre this past weekend and was surprised when I saw that it was out. I think I had maybe seen one commercial about it and knew it was talked about on here but I just assumed it was a ways away. It was the same with Element. I don't know if Wish is good or not, I don't plan on seeing it, I do know that they did a crap job marketing it though.

If the original Aladdin were to come out in 2023, especially amid all the Israel/Palestine stuff, you better believe there would be boycotts of the movie.

The original Aladdin came out in 1992. Something happened in the middle east in 1991. I just can't remember what it was.

I'd say you can't be this stupid, but you prove it daily.

I thought they had a pretty big marketing campaign relative to Elemental. I was in the Disney parks about a week before Elemental came out and there wasn't anything about it there of all places.

The put out a massive toy line ahead of Wish.

Did it get the marketing it should have for a movie that was essentially supposed to celebrate 100 years of Disney animation? Absolutely not, and that was probably a conscious decision after seeing the final product.

By and large the movie being considered forgettable at best and a pile of turds at worst. A massive whiff for what the movie was supposed to represent.

Created to celebrate Disney's centennial, we anticipate the animated musical will become a mainstay of the Disney movie canon.

Disney fans can get the film's Asha doll (for $14!) and Star plush toy, which have become even more popular since the film's release. Based on reactions from early Wish audiences, Asha's lovable sidekick, Valentino the Goat (voiced by Alan Tudyk), is a hit, too. The trending shopping experts at Firstfinds expect Wish toys to sell out fast based on the viral success of Disney movie toys this year, like the Little Mermaid doll, and the timing of Wish's release. With Wish premiering just ahead of Black Friday, you can expect toys from the movie to be a popular gift for kids.

Good Housekeeping with the miss.

Want to disappoint your kids at Christmas? Get them a Wish toy. Hilarious.

Maybe. But I think I’d say some new leadership came in and basically said we live in a divided society. We are returning to role of telling magical stories for kids and staying out of the culture wars. Or some super generic shite like that, and then followed through with a couple of really strong efforts they’d be right back in business.

Disney’s “Wish” failed to take off at the box office last weekend, adding a dismal theatrical opening to the film’s already poor reviews, making it Disney’s latest in a series of financial disappointments as the company struggles to bring audiences back to theaters.

Disney’s “Wish” debuted in third place at the box office last weekend, falling well below projections to gross $19.5 million in its three-day domestic opening weekend and $31.7 million over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend.

Honestly I don't think I have enjoyed a Disney movie since Princess and the Frog came out. I rewatched it the other night with my family and realized that today, 15 years later, many of the elements of that movie would be different because of Disney's ridiculous agenda. I don't think they will ever make a good movie again.

I mean if you are a logical, intelligent person you already know the end result of pushing DEI agendas before story. I think the difference is the arrogance of these people to think they are smarter than everyone else and can "disguise" the agenda first/story second movie and everyone will eat it up because we are stupid. They can't help themselves and eventually these big companies will get tired of losing money, but until then, enjoy the suckfests!

You're right there have definitively been some good Disney movies in the past 15 years I just feel like there aren't as many good ones as their used to be.

Maybe it's just over my head but I really don't get the hate for this movie. I know some don't like the songs but I thought it was mostly sweet and had a decent, admittedly not fully coherent, story.

I don't feel like it pushed a particular agenda. Is it the best product Disney has put out? No, it's not, but does it deserved to be panned like it is? I don't think so.
