I’m not sure what the original plan was but I felt like it should have been a limited series from the start.

Westward needed to die. $29 million on 5 million viewers or less.

Compare to HOD. Of course they have to put off HOD for two damn years, longer if cuz of strike,

Of course, y'all DO realize that the company has a huge mountain of debt, right?

So I imagine they're operating on thin ice, which is super unfortunate

WB/Disc is $50B in debt. I'd say unless your IP is printing money, everything is going to be on the chopping black at all times.

Yeah I have some concerns. Right now it’s great though. It just feels like the future looks different

I like some discovery programming. I watch a lot of ID and food network. But I also like real programming like a lot of the originals HBO provides. I also like DC and I really don’t want them taking away from that stuff.

I struggled to adopt Max back at the beginning when they decided they would not carry shows from their library like Real Sex.

Is the Harry Potter series still on the table? It seems like that’s a guaranteed grand slam of a series if they don’t screw it up.

WB as a whole has been hemorrhaging cash for quite a while.

Hence why they took a bunch of stuff off Max under cover of night and killed a bunch of series and films they saw as too costly such as Batwoman.

Considering where WB / HBO were 20 years ago with regards to DVD, TV, and everything else, it is a hell of a hole they have gotten into.

Discovery isn’t the cause of this from what I have seen but the cash crunch they are in sure seems to have gotten a lot worse post-merger.

I don’t know what their problem is but I rarely open max anymore and wish I could get money off my monthly att internet instead of a max sub.

Discovery, outside of some stuff is generally trash IMO.

I haven't watched Winning Time and a few others, but honestly my take is watch/rewatch the great shows from HBO while you can. I share an account with a poster in this thread, but we kinda share accounts on some stuff - you know who you are my man.

Even Perry Mason getting canceled when it was really starting to hit it's stride upsets me. I like written fiction and creativity. I just have a feeling that HBO/Max, whatever branding it is now is going to turn into TLC type shite. Remember when TLC wasn't all pseudo reality bullshite? I member.

I don't have a lot of hope for how this is going to work out. It sucks for people that like intelligent and well written shows, that's all I'll say. Sorry for the diatribe.

I feel like we’re in such a weird time in a lot of industries. All of this entertainment merging and short-term profit-thinking reminds me of college football realignment. Pretty much everyone hates it, everyone agrees it’s ruining brands like HBO or conferences like Pac 10/12 and Big 12, but we also acknowledge that everyone has to lookout for themselves in this zero sum game.

I’m usually pretty anti-regulation, but a lot of this lately has made me start to rethink that (in some ways). Idk how you’d do it, and maybe it’s a pipe dream, but if all of us consumers and even leadership seem to universally agree that what’s happening sucks, there has to be a better way.

The app is just terrible... still. It's got a new bug where if you pause a show for longer then a few seconds it will start at a random place somewhere during the show. So very annoying.

I agree the app interface isn’t that good, but the selection of movies and series can’t be beat. I always find something on there to watch.

Interestingly, the one I find myself watching almost as much is Paramount+.
