All episodes are about things that should still be fresh in our minds from the news.

Episode 1 is about the VW emissions scandal

Episode 2 is about payday lending

Episode 3 is about prescription drug price increases

Episode 4 is about HSBC bank money laundering for the drug cartels

Episode 5 is about the big maple syrup heist in Canada

Episode 6 is all about Donald Trump

I've watched 1,2,3,4, and 6. I thoroughly enjoyed them all and recommend it.

Was this really a thing or did you just slip this in to see if we were paying attention?

The Maple Syrup episode was one of the best ones behind the Donald Trump episode.

the Donald Trump episode.

I'm a little surprised this episode hasn't been discussed on this website yet.

The main antagonist in the Trump documentary is a reporter who worked for years for the NY Times, Editor of HuffPo and now works for Bloomberg View which is run by former NY Times employees.

I mean, they could have tried harder to find another person not so linked to a paper that devotes their entire rag to denigrating Trump or what Trump would call fake news.

Didn't seem well-rounded, very few people in the doc they interviewed, came across more as a concentrated post-election angst-ridden piece that seemed much ado about nothing...celebrity who lied about how much he was worth.

When you can't refute the facts then just attack the source, right?

Well I watched the end and they basically start interviewing nobodies.

And people who got fired from their jobs like that Government ethics guy.

"The counsel to the President, at one point he raised his voice to us in a meeting and I stopped the meeting and got him some cookies because I thought his blood sugar was low but it didn't get better from there."

That's his big complaint, somebody being a meanie.

Basically you could make this type of doc about anyone - they did W - of course, not Obama...regardless of politics...

They are interviewing fringe people and people at the bottom of the Totem pole in government who are acting like experts about complex issues.

Like that fired Government Ethics guy who just says: "Trump says his son-in-law and daughter are now running his business but we all know that's not true." Nice facts.

And "the Presidency is now just monitized for personal gain."

Just now? Do you know how much money the Clintons made?

This doc could be made about the last 4 Presidents.

"Trumps Presidency is just a Con, a grift."

Holy Shite, what do you think every Presidency is? We're talking about Politicians folks.

"Con Man promise to deliver on your dreams and their promises knowing full well they have no intent on delivering on that."

Ugh, New Yorker writer, that sort of sounds like Obama.

People don't care about is someone in Office is bad person, they care if that person will get results.

This was such a cry-baby piece...that was sophmoric in their understanding of goverment, politics let alone documentary film-making.

You can make this doc about anyone, let alone Presidents...interview a few people who hate you and there you go.

I mean the fact that Trump is a crappy sleazy businessman isn't exactly a secret. He could not be President and they still would have a ton of material for this documentary.

I watched this episode and immediately searched online for payday loans and started reading their terms, and the loan structures and ‘renewal’ fees were all on every site, very similar to what they depicted in the episode.

It’s almost like they picked out a bunch of names of Payday Loan ‘bigwigs’ into a hat, pulled one out and said that scum bag would be their sacrificial lamb.

Nah, they picked Scott Tucker b/c he got sent to jail and he was using his payday gains to fund a (successful) Le Mans career. Plus he is much like that shitbag Martin Shkreli in that he is completely unrepentant.

The documentary of his team @ the Rolex 24 is an interesting watch knowing what we know now. Ironic that if he would’ve ended up less successful in racing, the govt. would’ve probably never turned their focus to him. The guy is a bit of a sociopath, but didn’t have the ability to lawyer up and was an easy win for the feds.

I have watched the first five and enjoyed them all expect the HSBC one which was the last one I watched and it may have been I was just burned out on the theme.

I found the payday lending one the most engaging since it had the most intimate view of the antagonist.

Yeah. I just don't have much sympathy for people dumb enough to use them.

There have also been people bitching about rent to own places going to jail. They rent shite, don't pay a dime, and then don't even return the stuff. That is blatant stealing.

the problem isn't payday loans or rent-to-own

the problem is the people who have to resort to these avenues. the people who criticize the services always ignore that fact

it comes down to a simple question: is AN option better than NO options?

Maybe one of these people who constantly bitch about payday loan services being shady should go start a payday loan service with fair terms. Just a thought.
