i wanted them all dead. a real ode to the early seasons before people got plot armor.
they literally had white walkers and like 7 valerian steel swords together for a battle. there was so much opportunity to see some quality 1v1s end up in main character blood on the snow but no. they mailed it the frick in.

frick that noise. We wanted shite to make sense. We didn’t have to like it but it should have made sense not some subvert your expectations clown show shite.
Think of it like this, when Robert beat Rhaegar, was it a happy ending? The love of his life died in child birth giving birth to the enemy’s kid. His best fiend then hid that kid. He married a Lannister who was hooking up with her brother and would ultimately murder him. He had a hand of the king with a nut bag wife who would conspire with little finger against him. And on top of that Dani and her douche bag brother were still alive to threaten his claim to the throne. Robert and Cersei didn’t ride off into the fricking sunset and live happily ever after.
Jon and Dani ending up together is what made sense. And you could have done that without it being a magical fairy tale.

Nevermind the short joke, he comes across as kind of bitter and dumb in that interview. Like he can't put any real thought or consideration into why the fans disliked the show's conclusion, so he goes full "white people bad" as a default position.

Insulting the intelligence of GoT fans is the act of someone desperate to shirk their responsibilities for one of the biggest choke jobs in TV history. Getting GoT to the finish line was a piece of cake. A slam dunk. But they blew it. THEY blew it. Not the audience. Stop blaming the fans, a-hole.

Considering that The Pretty White Person associated with the show (Emilia Clarke) has said on several occasions she thought the final season in general and the finale in particular sucked the meat missile I don't think even his cast mates agree with him.

Agreed. The hints they threw out about Tyrion maybe having Targaryen blood were very probably just GRRM red herrings. He threw out a lot of misleading clues throughout - I guess you almost have to if you are going to rely heavily on mysteries and reveals.
