I saw it once when I was 13 and left the theatre so pissed off. It was the first time I can remember that I hated a movie.

It was made by a fairly accomplished Chinese director Zang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers) and was produced by Legendary which is owned by a Chinese conglomerate. It's not like this is a white savior movie made by the British pining for their lost empire.

Half of this board only watches movies to shite on them.
I saw an interview with Damon on the local Fox station and he said it's basically just a monster movie. He didn't sound like he was trying to push the artistic endeavor. It's a monster movie and he's getting paid.

Why wouldn't Chinese people be offended that the movie is another "here is another white guy in an improbable situation because we by God need one to carry this flick!"

Someone the other day told me the movie is supposed to be like Starshoop Troopers, you know kinda cheesy action.
The trailer looks really bad, and even if it is supposed to be like Starship Troopers, no way it will be as good.

He looks out of place in that movie. They missed on this casting. Not saying the movie would have been good even with another star but he doesn't look right for that roll.
