Everyone hates Liefeld, right? Isn't that what we learned from how Marvel treated him at the Deadpool X Wolverine premier?

So no one is caring about Liefeld now, right?

Right?

well… right

but he may not be wrong. this isn’t really all that bad either

I like the analogy. leave a good pitcher in too long and he can fall apart. Doesn’t mean he didn’t give you any good innings.

Realistically, they need FF and Xmen to right the ship.

they just don’t have the hero’s to do it otherwise.

That's kinda my point too. Like, hate or whatever Liefeld, he can still be spot on with this.

The frick it is. He drew a dude with swords and a bunch of pouches. And poorly I might add like all of his work. Other writers and artists made Deadpool what it is today. Leifeld deserves next to no credit. No feet drawing mother fricker.

Why is it always all in on one side?

All of these things can be true:
1. Liefeld is a terrible artist
2. Liefeld did great creating or being part of creating some cool characters like Deadpool
3. Liefeld is right that Feige is close to done
4. Liefeld is still kind of a douche
5. The MCU, while still a money maker relatively speaking, has lost some shine
6. But the MCU is also capable of supporting good stuff under the umbrella, even if it's just more rare now
7. The MCU could quickly reverse course and see something easily cross $800m again. Easily.

All true statements.

Liefield’s Deadpool was a cheap Deathstroke The Terminator ripoff from his turning The New Mutants into more of a Teen Titans riff.

He didn’t really flesh out until well after Liefield left to join Image, between two limited series and eventually his own regular series.

The trope for this is called “My Real Daddy” and is also applied to Daredevil, who was originally a Stan Lee and Jack Kirby creation whose key elements are due to Frank Miller’s tenure on the series.

Liefeld ripped off the look from Deathstroke as well.

Are you just regurgitating something you heard? Deadpool and Deathstroke don't look alike and Deadpool's look for that matter has remained mostly unchanged over the years. Maybe you meant their names are similar and they are both mercenaries.

This is pathetic. He deserves no credit? Liefeld didn't do the 4th wall breaking he's now known for but his look has remained almost unchanged from his debut. Think about that. Comic books are a visual medium and his design is mostly unchanged. frick liefeld though. He deserves no credit for that.

this is just you doing mental gymnastics. you don't get to decide what counts and what doesn't...

You really going to try and pretend like the fan service that was Deadpool and Wolverine was successful because it was in the MCU? I know you're dishonest a lot on here and you just like to be a contrarian and stir shite but this is a bridge too far for me.

Red and black mask vs orange and black mask
Wade Wilson vs slade Wilson
Regenerative healing vs accelerated healing
Both mercenaries
With expert marksman
Both usually wear swords as part of their costumes, and are experts with them

Liefeld deserves credit for creating deadpool. We can also acknowledge deadpool and deadstroke are strikingly similar in visual and power design, and that deathstroke came first.

Deadpool like Spidey is a one off, a gimmick.

I agree the Deadpool v Wolverine is a trick they can likely only pull once. Also, Deadpool is in a different category being the "R" rated brand that is only now in the MCU.

However, Spidey isn't a "one off". Spiderman is its own industry. Now, mind you, I recognize that Disney has the capacity to destroy Spiderman as they have Star Wars and Indy, but they haven't yet (because they still have Sony/Columbia as partners with Spiderman).

Liefeld is such a thin skinned little bitch.

He's still pissed because he didn't enough attention at the Deadpool & Wolverine premier. Like a middle school girl.

And Deadpool 3 was a lot of fun, but it was only fun because of nostalgia. Nobody cares about the new shite. Like, not at all.

Reach. The masks don't even really look that similar. A lot of characters have masks.

Agree but this has nothing to do with look.

Also nothing to do with the look.

Go pull up pictures of Deathstroke from the 80s and 90s. Mask with one eye, big pirate boots and gloves, giant orange underwear, etc. Deadpool had more the appearance of a ninja. I'm not denying the similarities only that they don't really look a like at all, and again comics are a visual medium. Add that to the fact that Deadpool's appearance has materially remained unchanged since inception, I think it's fair to give liefeld credit.

This and the rest of the humor that separates Deadpool from the rest of the Marvel Universe and makes him unique and awesome and the star of franchise. Not his suit.
