Fell asleep like 45 minutes in last night and I was enjoying it. Was surprised to look at IMDB and see that it had a mediocre rating.

The first 15 minutes with him just narrating was really good but a little annoying that he missed when there were numerous times he had a good shot at the guy but kept waiting for his pulse to drop. Like we get it, your calm and collected, but no need to pass on a shot when it's there just because your FitBit is showing 65 instead of 60.

This movie did a flat out horrible job of communicating what the hell was going on. I had to go on Wikipedia to read who and what are connected to everything going on.
There are valid complaints in this thread, but < couldn't understand what was going on > is pretty ridiculous. If anything, it was overly simplified.

So a billionaire (unlimited resources), who has already employed hitmen to take out a target, isn't "culpable enough" to come for the killer, but a lowly taxi driver isn't worth the risk?

I knew someone was going to contest that lol I shouldn't have used that word.

I think that he thought that he was far enough removed from the actual situation(on the other side of some 3rd party hitman broker, first time doing anything like this, he didn't exactly order the Killer's assassination, and was oblivious to what "tying up loose ends" really entailed, and the possible blowback) and now this billionaire knows that the killer can easily get to him in his locked down home, so he will heed his threat. He also doesn't want the smoke that would arise from a billionaire capitalist being murdered.

Fair enough. I think I've brought enough negativity to this thread. I thought the movie was enjoyable enough when I watched it. Critiques started floating in my brain long after the credits.

Exactly.

I can buy the bolded. The rest applies moreso to the taxi driver (completely removed). If you're theory is that he spares the billionaire totally out of fear of being discovered, I think it's a shaky one, but sound enough.

I say shaky because I would never feel comfortable knowing I threatened a guy with unlimited resources who has shown himself to be capable of murder.

I didn't like it, mostly for the reasons you mention. No character depth, no real story. I don't mind a slow burn, but this was just boring.

That was really the problem I had with the film. There were some cool and engaging scenes, (that brawl in the house was one of the best fights I've ever scene in a movie.),it was well shot, well acted but the connective tissue of the narrative was just so simple and uninspired imo. I think the general slow pace, which works fine with a more complicated story, didnt help it.

This is a bit of a chore. Started it again last night and fell asleep. For a calculated killer this guy has some really dumb ways of doing things. Bringing a framing gun to nail the computers to the desk and driving 3 nails into his chest was so dumb. Driving 3 nails into an old mains chest isn't really the best way of getting him to talk. Or even remotely the most efficient/discreet way.

You’ll never guess what happened again last night I’m honestly not sure I’ve ever fallen asleep 3 nights in a row on the same movie. I’m actually just kind of impressed at this point.

Just finished it. Movie had potential but was just ok. It felt like it was trying to build up to something but then not much kept happening. The fight scene with the Florida man was solid though.

Watched this over the last two days. Man, what a mediocre movie.

It isn't a bad movie, it just isn't really good either. I won't call it a complete waste of time, but it's close. It's just pretty boring for the most part.

Add in the Mindhunter angle to it, and this movie just makes me mad.

Also, as someone who has never heard a song from The Smiths, the music didn't really do much for me.

The movie just kind of begins and nothing really happens.

Pretty bizarre. It’s based on a graphic novel not sure the source material is the same way.
