Why? What's the point?
I can still watch the original on Roku?

Garner was a huge civil rights activist
otherwise he wasn't terribly vocal politically - certainly not by today's standards
the true woke test, especially for a broadcast tv show, is how many black women will be added. maybe his cop contact -- or beth?
:whynotboth:
then there will have to be a f@g best friend -- angel as a mexican tranny would kill two birds

Not sure why I’ll give this a shot, but I will. Hope they don’t make it too serious and keep the humor in.
I didn’t give the new Magnum a shot though - maybe it was Tom Selleck.
One day, everyone will be replaced. I bet they’ll have a new Indiana Jones in 25 years when Harrison Ford is long gone.

NBC is advertising a phone number that you can call for Rockford updates. I was hoping that they'd have a version of Jim's famous answering machine message, but it's just a request for you to opt-in for text updates.

I'm a fan of Boreanaz, but the casting of Angel
However, the classic recurring character Angel Martin (the con man originally played by Stuart Margolin) has not been announced as part of the main cast for Season 1.

It's been 20 years since Angel. Guy's been doing pretty steady work, too.

I watched that show as a kid, and the more I think about it, the more it just doesn't seem likely that they can pull it off.
Just too many things have to be redone correctly to get the same charm;
It's not just Angel and Rocky, they gotta get Dennis (his cop buddy) right too.
Plus, you have the car (he gold Firebird) and the way he drove it. I really don't think there's a modern car comparable to it. It has to be both ragged looking, and still a hint of power and performance. Those chase scenes are part of the show.
And let's remember he lives in a trailer and his answering machine. I'm betting they don't get either of those right.

Exactly this will be just as good as the Magnum and Hawaii 5-0 copies which means it will suck.

Ha! The irony.
Whenever I think of Boreanaz, I still think of Angel from the Buffy show.
But with Rockford, you gotta have Angel the smarmy con, that really only Rockford gives a shite about.
So even if it's done right and the show's ok, people are going to be constantly reminded of both when they say "Angel"

between this, Jake Johnsons Sunset PI and Jensen Ackles Rules of Prey. I'm excited. I like all three actors a ton

His dad definitely won't be a retired truck driver. Maybe retired school teacher who acts as a community organizer and volunteer at the homeless shelter.
