I read an unconfirmed rumor that the dog survives. I don't know about you guys but I'm done with movies where the dog dies. I'll probably hold off on watching until I know for sure.

You should read the YA novel "No More Dead Dogs" by Gordan Korman. The whole premise is a kid writes a scathing book report of Old Shep, My Pal where he blasts the trope of dogs always dying in youth literature and gets assigned detention. Shenanigans ensue, but the whole book is a pretty awesome critique of dogs always dying. It's pretty awesome.

This isn't exactly Turner & Hootch. Looks like a vanity project for Pitt, looks like it'll be good as long as they don't kill the dog.
