What are some of your favorites? I think the darkest of the dark is Hellfire from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Hellfire

Here are some others that come to mind:

Be Prepared - The Lion King
Poor Unfortunate Souls - The Little Mermaid
Kill the Beast - Beauty and the Beast

Definitely should be at or near the top.

I always loved Be Prepared and how dark it was. shite was Nazi-like at times.

Song of Mor'Du
Song of Mor'Du from Brave. It doesn't sound dark when you listen to it but when you know the words you realize it is.

Be Prepared is my favorite, but some other dark songs not mentioned:

Prince Ali by Jafar -Aladdin
"The venue's chosen! It's the ends of the earth! Whoopee! So long! Ex-Prince, Ali!"

Oogie Boogie Man - Nightmare Before Christmas
"It's hopeless, you're finished, You haven't got a prayer. 'Cause I'm Mr. Oogie Boogie and you ain't going nowhere"

I honestly don't think that was very dark. Not bad though. The little mermaid song is much much darker. Being turned into fricking seaweed and being kept as a trophy in a miserable little cave for the rest of eternity with that creepy witch is super dark.

Is an all-time great Disney musical number. Darker than anything else they've done.

Prince Ali - Because Jafar is a legitimate psychopath.

Be Prepared is pretty tame in comparison to the above.

I'd say that Hellfire is much darker than Poor Unfortunate Souls. Ursula is just doing pretty standard evil and merely plans on using Ariel to break a deal with Triton. Frollo's song on the other hand is a song about not only not taking responsibility for his own hair sniffing lust, but blaming her. He then comes to the conclusion that he must either frick/rape her to cleanse his spirit or have her burn alive and then be eternally damned. The song is about justifying rape and murder and then entirely blaming the victim of it for supposedly leading him on. I can't think of a much darker subject for a song than that.

Just coming to post Friends on the Other Side. Best line of the entire song is "You come from two long lines of royalty
(I'm a royal myself on my mother's side)"

I don't know how Disney can get much darker than this

quote:

What can you expect
from filthy little heathens?
Here's what you get when races are divers
Their skins are hellish red
They're only good when dead,
they're vermin,
as I said
And worse
They're savages savages
Barely even human

Definitely "Hellfire."

Hunchback is underrated as frick.

"It scared me out of my wits
A corpse falling to bits
Then I opened my eyes and the nightmare was me"

"I was once the most mystical man in all Russia
When the royals betrayed me they made a mistake
My Curse made each of them pay
But one little girl got away
Little Anya, beware
Rasputins awake"

Rubers theme is pretty good too
