For those slasher movie fans and fans of the Friday the 13th franchise, the prequel to the aforementioned franchise - Crystal Lake - premieres on Peacock today. It stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees. So far the reviews have been relatively solid.
Posted is the review of episode one from Film Threat. While Chris Gore loved the first episode, he questions whether or not we need an origin story of Jason/Pamela. If you think we do, give it a watch. If you think we don't, maybe skip it. Either way...it's the season of Halloween and shows like this make the season entertaining.

I’m gonna give it a shot for sure. I was a teenager when the original came out. I remember going to see it at the Bon Marche Super 8. Good times. Plus I’m doing my annual Spooky movie/show run —so this fits.

Wow haven't heard that name in long time.
What is in that space now?
What is in Cortana Mall's space now?
Ok sorry for the side bar. I've never been a big slasher film guy but I might check this out. The prequel aspect sounds interesting.

It is office space now. Most notably Cox/Spectrum I believe.

Cortana is completely demolished and there is an Amazon facility there now:

Watched the first episode:
Gonna try to avoid spoliers.
A little different back story on Jason. It's been a long time but, I don't remember them discussing his appearance.
Linda Cardellini is still hot. I don't recognize any of the other actors.
Gas 29.9c. Literally the good ole days.
Interesting song choice at the end.
ETA: 2 episodes in and this show has a kickass soundtrack

Linda Cardellini will always be able to get it. She's one of the most under the radar smokeshows in all of Hollywood.

For sure. She's a real woman who is aging amazingly, and not some silicone sex doll who's Botoxed herself into oblivion.
Her beauty is real world currency, not whatever horse shite Hollywood is trying to sell.

They are going to do the taboo thing with her and the police chief, aren't they?

A movie set in the Friday the 13th universe and no gratuitous boobies?
What is this world coming to.

Really, what kind of horror series has zero T&A?
I'm kind of liking the history of evolution of the mom. Although, I don't if that was ever addressed in the movie.
Same with crazy Ralph.
Why is it that every movie/tv sheriff has to have an idiot for a deputy?
Heh! Spanish Fly sighting.

3 episodes in, and its pretty damn boring so far.

It does get better. But, I don't like how they changed the back story for Jason and his parents.
And they added a whole other group of characters that as far as I remember were not anywhere in the movie.
