Saw a matinee showing of this over the weekend with my daughters. I was kind of surprised at how full the theater was.

I thought it was a solid MCU entry. It's not on par with Endgame, Infinity War, or Winter Soldier, but none of the other MCU films are either.

It was light years better than the Dark World, Iron Man 3, Ant Man & the Wasp, or Eternals. I think it was cut a bit tight. They could have fleshed it out a bit just by adding 10 or 15 minutes.

You are the board expert on such things given your vast experience pole riding nerdrotic and the drinker.

you had me until here. Shamelessly exploiting Boseman's death, silly, pointless story, wasting Namor for a generic 1-shot baddie, Suri waa just not lead material.

Not sure why you THINK ww dislike the film, but that is why I didn't.

Sorry if I don't fit in your narrow box or narrower mind

Because I read the board...

Do I need to pull up the Wakanda Forever thread?

But to kind of counter point your points, it's pretty well known Namor will be back. I don't think they "shamelessly" exploited his death at all. You had to acknowledge it. And while I thought they should have just recasted the character, I get why they didn't at the time, and I thought they did a good job of showing the grief Shuri was experiencing between the deaths of her brother and mother, and why she went the route she did.

I never thought they did either. I just didn't like the movie, but it had nothing to do with how they handled the Black Panther character.

Because they turned Namor into a garbage character and "Ironheart" has always been a garbage character?

Deadline has their break even point at $425 million, thats pretty close to where itll end up.

If the movie comes up 25 million short, thats less money than Disney World alone brings in every single day of the year lol

For some perspective, Disney market cap is 197 billion dollars today, 20 years ago it was 57 billion.

If you are counting on losing 20 million bucks (if they do end up south of 425) to be the financial blow that cripples them ill put my money on the other side.

They didn't have to acknowledge it and they should have recast. It's sad what happened but t'challa didn't die. Boseman did. It was short sighted to kill him off. Delay the movie and recast. How many Batmans have we had? How many Spider-Mans?

The Final Production Budget of the film was $180M.

Wait, you actually believe this budget from the company that was caught outright lying about previous budgets? Oh you!

The deep divers into these things seem to believe this 180M is the cost of the reshoots and that Disney is trying to use that as promotion of their budget.

That's if the $180m net spend (pre-marketing) is accurate. Garbage in = garbage out

If the net spend (after tax credits), pre-marketing is more like $300m that many of us suspect, this film loses $150m to $200m at a $425m gross (depending on how crazy they got with marketing).

Realistically, because of lack of fiscal restraint, they've lost money on Marvel since Endgame. Hundreds of millions if not a billion at this point.

All the goodwill and profit from the Civil War through Endgame run simply squandered.

If you are a Dr. Strange fan MoM was a cool flick .

The first Dr. Strange was one of my favorites in the entire MCU and Scarlet Witch is my favorite character. So I was pretty pumped for that one. It was laughably bad imo. I didn't go in with high hopes because the drop in quality. The zombie stuff was just too much, comically bad.

Loved WandaVision though.

Deadpool & Wolverine, Black Panther 2, Multiverse of Madness, Captain Marvel were all huge financial successes.

Yall admit Hollywood doesnt make small budget movies because the profit margins on successful big budget movies makes the return negligible, but then when a blockbuster makes a huge return yall write it off as nothing.

Combined Guardians 3 and Thor: Love and Thunder combined for over 200 million in profit, those "failures" according to you will cover Brave New World's losses IF they actually exist.
