On Season 5 Ep 14

Hank just got taken out.

I really admired Hank this rewatch. He seemed much more of a bad arse to me this time. Not sure why I didn't realize it the first time through. The way he confronted Walt, when he went back into the biker bar to pick a fight... I noticed his seriousness more.

And he went out like a man.

I'd want Hank on my side in a bar fight

2nd best line in the entire series behind "I'm the one who knocks."

I still think my favorite scene in the series was Walt telling the white trash bro’s that ABQ was his territory while TV on the Radio “DLZ” plays.

LINK

That’s when I knew the show was an all timer

Doing a rewatch myself and currently on the train heist. It amazes me how differently you view things on the second go round. I was rooting for Walt the whole time the first go round and now I have a completely different opinion of him.

Yep, same. He's a true weasel and coward for the most part.

He had some balling moments though.

I think the writers had some difficulty along these lines several times. Hank starts as more of a 2 dimensional cardboard cut out character, only to get so much gravitas that by the end you are wondering "has the show actually sneaky been ABOUT Hank all along?".

Similar arc for Saul - starts off as a cartoonish, 1 dimensional putz and eventually migrates into a quasi-serious character (note: I haven't seen Better Call Saul, so I'm wondering how they bridged this gap.)

How could anybody have ever pulled for Walt - particularly once you got to the latter seasons.

Is the train heist when Meth Damon shoots the child? That was a jump the shark moment.

BCS is building its own GOAT legacy, heavily based on extremely high quality acting and writing - if anything the balance between light and dark is almost perfect.

As if the experience making BB made the team all the more prepared to do even better (in some areas - still has to stick the landing to even sniff BB overall, but extraordinarily good at times - I have 0 reluctance in recommending any BB fans to watch BCS at their earliest opportunity).

I meant it was silly writing to have the wide-eyed nephew kid all of a sudden willing to commit the murder of a child just to have a drug deal go well. Not as bad as zombie Gus walking out with half a face, but still bad. This show has a lot of weaknesses, which is why I give it 3 out of 4 stars max.

Todd was a monster. That was the point it was revealed to us.

BB is one of the very few tv shows in which children get murdered. It was tough to watch, but is probably fairly accurate with that environment. I think that they were just trying to drive home how high the stakes were in their business. No one was off limits to protecting their cash cow.

You didn't understand that scene at all. Nice to see your lack of thought transcends the poli board though.

It was an absurd reveal. I understood it perfectly. A show doesn't have to be perfect to be good. This show was good. Not transcendent, though.
