I kind of thought that was what the producers/directors were alluding to when they cast Ralph Fiennes as the new M and they put him in the old office of the original M and he said that it was time to get back to work .

It was almost as though it was intimated that 007 was going to be 007 again.

That's what everyone thought. Then instead of slowly introducing Spectre in the next movie, they just vomited the whole thing out there and tried to shoehorn the previous movies into the plot.

Of course the last movie where Bond didn't quit or go rogue was The World Is Not Enough. It's tiring at this point.

Die Another Day: Captured then escaped to go rogue in Cuba
Casino Royale: Disobeyed order and went to the Bahamas. Resigned to be with Vesper after being tortured.
Quantum of Solace: Went rogue after the shootout at the play. Had to rely on Mathis.
Skyfall: Quit after being shot.
Spectre: Went rogue and went to Italy. Resigned/Retired at the end of the movie.

Enough already.

I would’ve dropped my 2 weeks too after being whooped in the nuts with that big knotted rope. That’s hard to watch.

The movie holds up very well until they get to Skyfall and then you realize that Bond's plan didn't make any sense and that he actually failed his mission.

Spectre would have been a great movie if the villain was just some guy named Franz Oberhauser with no connection to Bond. They had some pretty good action scenes. The whole "I'm going to kill my father and start a worldwide terrorist organization and torment my sort-of adopted brother, if by some chance he becomes a government agent, because my dad taught him mountaineering" angle has a way of really killing a movie.

At this point, I'd rather Fiennes be 007 he seems to have more energy than Craig does.....and Craig is fine actor

Is Elba still expected to be the next bond? Haven't kept up with it.

The Best Bond movies are the new Mission Impossible movies especially Rogue Nattion. They have all the good elements of Bond Craig was afraid; gadgets, some humor, good action, world ending plots with more personal plots too

Not to mention Craig had to be dragged back into playing Bond

AFTER clearly mailing it in for the last one.

They had the makings for a great foundation of a franchise villain too.

Instead they had:

“Remember that time you went to the movie rental store only for them not to have that week’s big release? That was me, James; the architect of all your pain.”

Because it’s a fun movie with a rediculous plot that gets harder to look past on successive viewings.

I still appreciate it for what it is.

Spectre had all the elements of a great movie, but outcome was terrible. Not going down that road.

Skyfall was a great movie. Every great movie has those nitpicking buffoons who want to be that contradicting a-hole no one likes.

For the most part, yes. But why did everyone sour on Skyfall? That thing was universally praised when it was released but fan opinion has seemed to do a 180. I still love it.

I thought it was overrated from the start. Silva was a good villain, but it’s just convoluted. Spectre made it worse since somehow Silva is connected with Blofeld.... How?! Silva was a mad dog that was clear in his intentions and only had about 5 guys working for him. If anything, Blofeld would have had Silva killed for blowing up MI6.

I agree with that. It's best to ignore Spectre after the awesome opening scene in Mexico.

I always figured that was the single reason her character was named Christmas.

The writer thought of that one line and was like ****, we have to name that character Christmas now. Can't pass up that "comes once a year" line.

QoS was far from great, but it was better than Spectre by a long shot. Stealing a plotline from Austin Powers: Goldmember and having Bond and Blofeld be "brothers" was bad enough. Having Blofeld being a little bitch about not getting enough fatherly love was awful.

Bond movie formula:

1. Suave Brit in good clothes
2. Fancy cars and watch
3. Lots of gadgets
4. Some gunplay but no real overt violence
5. Carefully scripted chase scenes and fights
6. Amazing locations as backdrops
7. Gorgeous women, lots of sex
8. Bad guy with ridiculous plot

There it is. Bond doesn't need more.
