From the newest Mel Brooks documentary- when Sheriff Bart is in the dark with Lillie Von Schtupp.

Ohhh…it’s true…IT’S TRUE!!!’
But the line that got cut for some reason was the Sheriff’s response…. ‘Ms. Von Schtupp- that’s my ARM’
I’ve been watching that movie long before I should have- the jokes definitely take on a different meaning as I got older. Still makes me laugh until I cry. And yes- the ending still kinda sucks

A few years ago, I found this on one of the streaming services. I can’t remember which one, but I was surprised and excited to see it there. I told my son, who was 17 at the time, that this is one of those movies you have to see at least once in your life, and the sooner the better before it goes the way of “The Song of the South.” We watched it together and he loved it. He couldn’t believe that there was once a time a movie like that could be made.

While true the end is kind of weak, the movie as a whole is a gem. It's maybe not the kind of movie that could get made, but the kind of movie that should.

That sounds like it's using the star system from way back.
I would have guessed for older movies they were still using someone like Roger Ebert - I'm old enough to remember when TV Guide and the local newspaper's TV listings (called the Punch in the old Birmingham News) would give the ratings for movies.
But Robert Ebert gave it 4 stars back in the day, so no idea.
