About three years ago this was streaming on Netflix. I sat my son, who was 17 at the time, down to watch it. I told him this was a movie he needed to see at least once in his life, and he needed to see it before it went the way of "The Song of the South." He LOVED it and couldn't believe there was a time when something like it could have been made.

Also when Lamar ask Tagart what to do about the town he says we will run a Number 6 on them. Says that’s when we go riding into town stoping everything within an inch of its life except the women. Lamar says you spare the women? Tagart say no we rape the shite out of them at the Number 6 dance afterwards.

Quicksand scene is one of my favorites in the whole movie, so many good lines in that exchange

Am I wrong? Or is the world…rising?

I don’t know, but whatever it is, I hate it

Dang, that was lucky, doggone near lost a $400 dollar hand cart

Welp, break time’s over, don’t just lay there getting a suntan. Ain’t gonna do you no good no how

Bart don’t do it

No baby, I have to!

Send wire, main office…tell him I said “ow!” Gotcha.

Mel Brooks has said, many times, that he could not make that movie today. "And that's society's fault, not mine." And, as noted, Madeline Khans' "it's twue, it's twue".

I watched it recently - I forgot how goood the first two acts are and how the third is so bad - it should have stayed a western and not devolved into the movie set battle etc IMHO

I don't care for the Madeline Khan portions and frankly Mel Brooks is much better in the director's chair than he is acting.

Harvey Korman was great. Remember him on the Carol Burnett show as a kid and he was always funny as hell. And had a hell of a time keeping a straight face on live tv.

I love Madeline khan.

She cracks me up every time she works with Brooks.

I watched Blazing Saddles 100 times before I realized that Richard Pryor was one of the writers.

I think I've posted this before...but Mel Brooks did an interview where he said that Richard Pryor was originally cast as Sheriff Bart. The studio said no, he was too controversial, etc. So Richard told Mel: "I know of a guy blacker than me, let's offer the role to him." And Mel's replay was "Great! That'll really piss off the studio! Let's get him."

I like Richard Pryor, but I can’t picture him in this role. The cast was perfect.
