They are trying to be too funny

Actually, they stayed away from humor in this one. Klaue had a couple of moments, and the Mountain Clan leader did as well. Outside of that, not much humor.

aren't reaching into the emotion well very much at all which I think should be a hallmark of these movies when it comes down to it.

I thought they gave a valiant effort in this one. The scenes with his father, the focus on past mistakes and a nation split by war....I don't think it all worked, but they dug a little deeper here than they normally do.

And for all the political nonsense revolving around this movie, T'Challa's final message denounces division, and in the context of the movie, it is specifically denouncing obsession over slavery and a feeling that revenge is needed against past oppressors.

also add in the lovely message of not putting up a barrier up

Lupita Nyongo pulling up in her car seat got the biggest laugh in my theater

I was really worried they were gonna make wakanda like avatar where everyone lived in harmony and there was zero strife between clans. I'm glad that wasn't the case at all

I agree for this movie. I meant overall as the marvel movies have progressed. Frankly, I like more serious movies, I think guardians of the galaxy as great as it was might have changed disney's entire approach to the process. You can see it in star wars, they tried to make star wars a lot like GotG and it flopped.

I think that has everything to do with Chadwick Boseman. I think he's a good actor, but I think they limited him in this movie and I believe thats because disney restricts a lot of creative freedoms.

I thought that was an interesting route for them to take. I thought they would do that too, but then when they all started fighting I thought: "holy shite, its actually just like Africa in real life".

It just wasn't realistic that these Wakandans would start killing each other so quickly, presumably people they're friends and family with. If they showed strife in the city of tradition vs. moral conflict it would have made more sense.

Did you catch the opening monologue that talked about the 5 tribes fighting for years over the land before the line of kings started?

Not only that, it's fairly clear with the Mountain Clan that things aren't exactly peachy.

Agreed, but it worked for Ragnarok. And I think TLJ's problems were mostly the dismissal of the past, not the humor necessarily.

I wouldn't disagree. However, I find it strange that people go into comic-book/action films and expect these grand surprising stories with intricate twists, incredible villains, deep emotions and themes, etc. This kind of action movie has been made at best a handful of times. Somehow, these films are expected to be the best of nearly every movie metric, and that's a little unfair.

Just got done an hour ago and boy the M/TV board jumped the shark on this movie.

It was a solid B+ movie that would of been an A if tied into infinity war.

The racial stuff was intricately done and not preachy at all. People who were saying shite about this movie in that regard should feel ashamed of themselves and recuse themselves from this board. I was on the anger train with SJW TLJ but this movie was FAR from that travesty.

I loved how Wakanda looked and the scenes with the vibrainium mines were beautiful.

4/5 stars.

Better than average Marvel Studios movie. Good but not great. I’m not a big CGI guy but even I could see it was off in places. I really thought that it would be cooler and more majestic. Serkis blew the rest of the cast out of the water. Sucks that they killed him off, hopefully Fox or WB will give him a villain role in the future.

I thought the rhinos were cheesy but the kids in the theater flipped over them.

More racial whining on Tigerdroppings. It never ends. Poor, victimized southern white boys.

So they would have something to trade with the other tribes who did not live on the cold, lifeless, mountain. Not sure why vegetarians would choose to live up there though.

Saw it today, was alright. No real surprises. Black Panther's new suit gives him Sebastian Shaw powers which may be a little too much. Klaue was cool. I think he could have been a good villain for Agents of Shield or one of the netflix shows but that's obviously not gonna happen. I think its safe to say Wakandan technology will play a big part in the battle against Thanos. Maybe Tony can work with the scientist girl to invent something new.

Both Bucky and Sam have been Cap in the comics, so they could go either way. They seem to be setting up Bucky moreso than Sam, so that would be my guest. Evans will quit, Panther will lead the Avengers in Phase 4 and Bucky will be the new Cap.

Bucky's just a far more likeable character. You can get rid of Falcon and no one would give a shite.

Just saw the movie. I don’t see any like bad SJW bullshite in it. It was great movie. Another MCU great.

97% in RT is pretty too high. I would give it around 85%.

Careful. You’ll disrupt the narrative.

Saw it tonight in IMAX. No SJW stuff in the film. Average consistent Marvel flick. 7-8/10. Wasn’t bad and better than any of the DCEU films bar Wonder Woman, but that’s not saying much. Definitely go see if you’re an MCU fan.

Just got out of it. Good movie, good performances (especially from Michael B Jordan) and fun soundtrack. My only gripes are the normal MCU movie gripes in that the hero just fights another version of himself at the end (the Iron Man problem), it was fairly predictable, and that they didn't flesh out the world of Wakanda enough for my tastes. I wanted to see more of Wakanda than just the throne room, his sister's lab and the one market street that they walked down twice. I thought the Thor movies did a much better job immersing you in Asgard than this did immersing me in Wakanda. Probably because of how many times they left Wakanda.

Other than those things though, solid movie. Fits right in the upper-middle tier of Marvel movies IMO.
