haven't seen a quiet place, is it worth watching?
Absolutely. It was one of the better suspense/sci fi movies of the 2010’s. Not necessarily the story, but the execution. Very emotional and impactful

Show the damn monsters and come up with a better ending for these shite shows.
Don’t know if true, but saw a video on you tube saying the female director changed some of the darker elements in favor of a lighter story. For example, some of the folks at the sanctuary at the end were blind due to poking own eyes out following an incident within the compound. Don’t remember what else, but try to find the video.

I agree that it was a pretty interesting movie (only watched bc of online memes and Sandra Bullock), they could've cut the backstory by 20 minutes though

Weird how some people are so naive to it. Let me guess. Vice portrays Cheney as a corrupt clown while the RBG movie portrays her as a hero. Just another coincidence.

She was pregnant. Notice the other woman made it to the house and was also pregnant.

I don’t plan on seeing either in theatre for the political bs behind it.
TBH, taking my kids to see Grinch and Merry Poppins was more worth it because there’s no political bs behind either.

Watched it last night. I'll give it a solid positive up-octave "it's alright", but I'm not gonna sit through it again.
Only slightly giving any hint as to where the monsters come from or what they look like kinda rubbed me the wrong way. In a monster movie, I am all for building suspense, but they never actually have a "Jaws popping out of the water" moment. A quiet place did it right, even though it was basically the same premise.
The biggest problem with this movie was that there was no payoff. No twist ending, no "oh shite" moment with the monsters, no real ending. It is like we got a window into this woman's life and then it closed abruptly with nothing more to show for it.
Sandra B was pretty good. Johnny M was great being the a-hole IMO. The "psychos can't be affected because they have no fears or regrets" was a decent twist.

I didn't finish it. I was in a mood and the PC shite stuck out like a sore thumb.

Started great, grabs ya, but 1/2 way through it's turns into a slow burn to the end, movie was 30+ minutes to long. Had so much promise..... :(

Good idea, decent 1st half, but it was littered with tired genre tropes. I also found that it just didn't really internally cohere.
Even just the very beginning where the news sort of reported "hey, tens of thousands committing public suicides in Europe...don't worry about." Please. There would already be mass panic in the US if that happened.
Speaking of the US...WTF were they? It seemed hinted as vaguely like central California, yet seemed like a decent-sized city directly adjacent (as in the property they holed up in had river frontage itself) to a stunning Alaskan wilderness.
Then there was the trumped up but entirely unnecessary "moral dilemma" over what to do with the grocery store. Either STAY (a-hole position) or GO BACK (holier than thou position.) Clearly, the right decision was just to go back and load the others up and bring them to the store.
2.5 out of 4 stars.
Also, all of you who worked yourself into a tizzy over some perceived SJW nonsense are completely loons.

The best part of this show was how the blind school apparently had either:
1) stockpiles of food and supplies to last dozens of people for years, or
2) A magic food-machine that kept everyone fed
This movie was really awful apart from Sandra Bullock's acting.

I want my two hours back. So many better horror/suspense movies. Felt like I was watching a lamer version of The Happening crossed with The Mist.

They did. It's called gardens. And blind people farmed them. Why is that so difficult to buy into?
And after catching up, all this SJW bullshite in this thread is hilarious. Good Lord.

this shite was dumb. How did they get Bullock and Malkovich to do this movie.

Finally got around to watching "The Quite Place"
TQP > BB and it's not even close
Both are good movies though

I wanted to enjoy this movie, but its so difficult when the political correctness is so obviously shoehorned into the plot.
Look at the group thats holed up in the house: a strong independent soon-to-be single mother(no mention of the father), a gay asian, a latinx, an old woman, a morbidly obese chick, a super intelligent black novelist, and a near perfect gentleman black hero whos a war vet working a blue collar job(evidenced by his plaid jacket). The two white guys are a pill addict & a twice divorced drunken a-hole Trump supporter
.
The transgender community should really be outraged at their exclusion from this film. Theyre the only victim group thats left out.
