I've really enjoyed all the comeuppance Jim receives in the later years of the show (despite the fact that he is my favorite.

Pretty sure it's Phyllis that gets hit with the soccer ball and Charles gives Jim crap about it.
In sesson 4, Pam tells Toby she knows how to throw a football and she beams Meredith in the head. And everyone is mad at Jim and Pam because they got locked in and out of the office at the same time.

The later seasons were funnier on later rewatches.
I hope so. Just started watching a week or two ago and just wrapping up season 3. I remember I stopped watching it on TV around season 6 or 7.
There have been some real gems during the rewatch. It was a good show.

I'm now mid-season of 9 (final season).
I had COMPLETELY forgotten about the "2 new guys". Dwight Jr. is pretty funny.
Nellie - I thought she had been manager for much longer than she had. In any event, she's actually not that bad.
Robert California - really like this character.
Season 8 finale - I died when Dwight set up the ruse to have the professional photog do family shots...all so he could steal DNA from Angela's baby. Mose and his own Trans Am.
Andy - I truly had forgotten how long the Nard Dog was at the Helm (see what I did there?). Given the success of The Hangover franchise, was his salary massively upped in latter seasons?
There's no doubt that the writing in 8 and 9 is not as strong and is way more gimmicky. But it's still OK. In a weird way, it makes me sad that it's still OK after Michael Scott leaves. EVERYONE is expendable.

Have to disagree with you a bit on Nellie. I really dislike her, although I don't despise her like others on here do.
I'm one of the few that really likes Robert California a lot. He cracks me up.

Yes, they basically had to agree to up his presence to keep him, and they had to do that whole boat trip scenario which ruined several story lines because he needed the time off to film.

Have you killed anyone?
How many people have you killed?
Please, sir, will you not kill me?

People talk about the drop after Michael left, but I really think it started in season 7. It was the beginning of the decline to me.

I remembered I had a question: at the end of the Halloween episode in Season 9, they do a musical montage (it's actual the Cornell alma mater) and they wrap up various storylines silently underneath it. Anyway, one of them is Toby approaching Nellie with flower to ask her out. But then the next frame is him back in the lunch room smashing the flowers against the wall. I didn't understand at all.

Got to the finale yesterday...I loved it. I had forgotten almost every aspect of it.
The 3rd to last episode when Andy serenaded The Office definitely brought out the onions in my house.

Anybody know the season and/or episode where Angela questions michael about his expense report? He put a magic set on there and is saying it was for customers. i've tried googling and havent had much success.

There was a scene in season 8 or 9 where Nellie kisses Toby for whatever reason. Toby misread that situation completely and from that point on was always approaching her with romantic intent. In the scene you are referring to, it was showing that she rejected him yet again.

Season 2 Episode 13 Script
quote:
Michael: [Michael messes up hair to look like Jim's] Expenses.
Kevin: Michael is that a wig?
Michael: No. It's... I wear it like that sometimes. Is that a wig?
Kevin: No.
Angela: This is from Hooters.
Michael: Yeah, it's a business lunch.
Angela: Did Toby approve this?
Michael: No he did not. I don't need his permission.
Toby: You just got your corporate credit card back. Do you really want me to take it away again?
Michael: Uhhh it's ridiculous. They took my card away because I spent $80 bucks at a magic shop. What they don't understand is that I bought the stuff to impress potential clients. So business related, right?

The only thing that rings a bell is this exhange with Oscar from season 4, Money.
Oscar: Okay, the green bar is what you spend every month on stuff you need, like a car and a house.
Michael: Mm-hm. That is so cool how you have my name at the top.
Oscar: The red bar is what you spend on non-essentials, like magazines, entertainment, things like that.
Michael: Right.
Oscar: This scary black bar is what you spend on things that no one ever, ever needs, like multiple magic sets, professional bass fishing equipment.
Michael: How do they do this so fast? Is this power-point?

For as clunky as it was for a couple seasons, and as cliche as some of the wrapping it up was....they really did an excellent job closing it out. I remember getting a little emotional a few times there at the end.

People should watch season's 8 and 9 just for Nate alone. That guy cracks me up.
Nate to Ryan: I've never met Ravi personally, but I'm gonna go ahead and say, just having known you a short while, Brian, that I prefer Ravi. And again, I've never even met the guy.

One of the great scenes with Nate is when Dwight has him dress up in blackface for that German Bellscnickel Christmas party. After it is negatively received by his officemates, Dwight texts Nate just as he's about to come up and he turns back around and leaves. Then, later, he's at the party with remnants of the face paint still on.
