The Dark & The Wicked was my #1 of 2020

Went and searched my full list:

1. The Dark & The Wicked (Shudder)
2. Color out of Space (Shudder)
3. Invisible Man (HBO)
4. Freaky (VOD)
5. Host (Shudder)
6. Anything for Jackson (Shudder)
7. Wolf of Snow Hollow (VOD)
8. Impetigore (Shudder)
9. The Cleansing Hour (Shudder)
10. His House (Netflix)

Honorable Mentions: Underwater, Sputnik, #Alive, The Lodge, The Beach House, Spiral, Blood Quantum, Possessor, Spontaneous

Hunter/Hunter would have likely made my Top 10 but I saw it just recently on Hulu.

Hereditary (2018) or Midsommar (2019) both are masterpieces and well....one of a kind.

For me, Midsommar is bone-chilling horror, because it feels so real. When a horror flick has over-the-top violence, a supernatural element, or forced humor, it's easy to dismiss as mindless entertainment. But Midsommar feels like something that maybe really exists somewhere.

These two right here. Amazing movies. Also both directed by the same guy.

The witch (2015 I think). Some of his other movies are horrible, Midsommer being an overhyped piece of garbage.

But The Witch was good.

Interesting list of movies that are not so well known. I've watched some of those listed, but Anything for Jackson and Impetigore. While looking up Impetigore, the movie has interesting background. LINK to village background.

A24 horror fans have to watch Saint Maud. Sorry but that's the rule.

Agreed. Both were my #1 for the year they were released and it wasn’t close. Two excellent, chilling movies.

Midsommar is pretty good. I was a little disappointed in it, but it was still solid and creepy.

I watched The Endless recently, and liked it. It’s part horror and part sci-fi.

I don’t think those were made by the same person.

Yeah they weren’t. Ari Aster made Hereditary and Midsommar.

Robert Eggers made The Witch and The Lighthouse

Host was good.
Had a Paranormal Activity meets Blair Witch quality.
Two of my all time favorites.

ETA- Unfriended:Dark Web (2018)
Damn what a pleasant surprise this was...intense and well done. Once it’s gets going it’s relentless. Creative too.

Wolf of Snow Hollow was one of the best movies of any genre I saw last year. The Sheriff’s son flipping out on everybody in the conference room were hilarious scenes.
