1a: Rosemary's Baby

I saw this around the age of 11, at home ,alone, at around 2 in the morning. It was an absolute masterpiece for me in this setting and I can't imagine it would've been near the same for me otherwise. The flipside of how I view the Exorcist (cheeky).

(SPOILERS)

For years I swore I saw the baby's face in the end.

1B. Dogville

I really hate to discuss this movie in detail as I think everyone should experience it with a blank mind. Lars Von Trier's films aren't for everyone but this one is definitely worth the payoff. James Caan and Nicole Kidman's scene in the end is one of my favorite scenes of all time.

(SPOILERS)

I was rooting for them to to eradicate the town. Children and all.

Serenity

I had never even heard of Firefly, not sure why I went to see it. But I was blown away, loved it.

The Prestige. Happened upon it after being late for another movie.

Bar none: The Fellowship of the Ring. Was 14, and my best friend said that the books were awesome. I didn't really like fantasy at the time, but I was in Junior High and had nothing better to do on a Friday night. Blew my face off. Knew it was the best movie I've ever seen simply from the prologue. While "The Force Awakens" is pretty close, its still the best theater experience of my life.

Fight Club by far. I'm actually thrilled that it had a dogshit ad campaign.

ETA: Though that's ill-preconceived notions more so than a lack of them.

My answer is Amelie.

I saw it on our college access channel in the dorm and thought it was peculiar. Then watched it all the way through again.

Still top 5 to this day fot me!

Same. That shite blew me away when I first saw it. Best movie theater experience I've ever had.

Gone Girl

I had never heard of it at all when the wife asked to go see it. I didn't even know who was in it and may have tried to talk her out of it, had I known it was Affleck.

But, that helped going in and I loved the movie. It was actually great not knowing anything or having any expectatios.

The Prestige. Didn't know a single thing about it when I watched it. It's in my top 5.

ETA: I see that some are offering their best theater experience. I was originally replying to the OP subject of having no preconceived notions.

For a theater experience (being familiar with the film beforehand), I'd have to say Interstellar, Fellowship of the Ring, and The Force Awakens.

Went in blind to Gone Girl. I was giggling like a school girl. I love thrillers.

11 Cloverfield Lane

I never saw the first and never saw a trailer for this one before going. I just knew it was some weird shite just based on word of mouth.

Was a great experience

For the most part I keep super up to date with movie releases so I rarely go into movies completely blind anymore
