Flooding where I am currently and also quite cool, around 49 outside.

Wife and I made some homemade chili and are looking to get into a late night movie. What’s the best you got for those dark and stormy nights?

Could be animated or maybe a tv show. Maybe something Halloweenish? What you guys got?

The Ring of course.

Want to be more adventurous? The Orphanage by Del Toro or the Awakening.

Orphanage trailer

First class ghost stories.

Want to go old school? The Changeling (1980)

I'm assuming you've seen the old stuff, so I'll go past 6-7 years:

Autopsy of Jane Done
The Guest
They Look Like People
The Invitation

I’ll never understand the appeal of It Follows like Babadook.

The first bores me to aggravating tears. The second makes me wish all the characters kill each other.

Anyway. 28 days later.
The new Halloween.
Trick or Treat.

original NOTLD
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

these are the 2 GOAT "dusk" movies, where before you realize it, it's dark around you and everything is closing in

Hereditary is creepy, dark (in terms of lighting) and recent

The town that dreaded sundown (original)
Night of the living dead (1990)..(its a solid remake that often gets overlooked)
The Shining
Silent rage
The deliberate stranger
The beyond
They live
Apt pupil

Or that new one "crawl", since its flooding.

The Blackcoat’s Daughter - the first fifteen minutes are blah, but stick with it. It also has a great ending. 2 girls left at a boarding school, evil spirits, pervy-ish ole guy, scary furnace. It’s got it all.

I watched Candyman with the wife the other night on Netflix...still damn good for a slasher film.

I enjoyed The Witch (I think it is probably still available on Netflix)

I don’t know why but The Witch has a lingering effect for a couple hours after you watch it. It’s a really good and dark movie.
