Also the best choice of song in that closing scene.

I love hearing little bits of trivia like this. So what was it supposed to be? They just send the bus on in that original direction and then go their own way...and JC ad libbed the chasing the bus down part?

If IRC, the movie ended with them getting on the bus and I don't think Carry ad libbed it as much as he straight boycotted it. He was emphatic that his character would never have gotten on that bus.

Jim Carrey refused to shoot an alternate ending of Harry and Lloyd getting on the bus with the Hawaiian Tropic girls.

Cool Trivia...look right under the spoilers section

Boogie Nights had the perfect ending. I'm not saying it's the best, but it gave the character the closing it needed.

Shawshank Redemption & for laughs the end scene in the Hangover with all the pics from their night. One more the Sandlot with the rundown of what happened to all his childhood friends and the epic thumbs up from The Jet after he stole home as a Dodger.

Nope, in the original ending they were supposed to get on the bus with the girls for a happy ending. Jim Carrey thought that was stupid because it wouldn't stay true to the characters or the movie, so he changed it.

I love this piece of improv:

quote:

In the bar scene in Aspen, the line "No way... that's great. We've landed on the moon!" was not in the script but made up by Jim Carrey on the spot during shooting.

You know the entire staff must have been pissing themselves when Jim Carrey first said that.

Really? Hmm. I hated that ending, I thought it was a really good movie up until the end. I just didn't think the ending was very cohesive with the rest of the film. I get that it went with the goal of the film just didn't think it flowed.
No Country For Old Men would be my favorite Cohen ending.

Rashomon had a brilliant ending. And Seven Samurai for that matter.
Psycho
Pans Labyrinth
Mr Smith Goes to Washington
Gone With the Wind

I'm kind of the other way around. I think the ending made up for a lot of the flaws in the movie. I think its the funniest scene in the Coen oeuvre... and that's saying something. Yes, that was an excuse to say oeuvre.

Well after taking a quick lookski at my dictionary.com app I can now respond to this post ...

Whoa. Funniest scene in any of their films. Put the purple drink down Jamarcus that's crazy talk. I mean there are multiple lines from Raising Arizona, Hudsucker Proxy, O Brother, overrated Lebowski movie etc that cracked me up more. But like I say, I really didn't like that ending so I didn't find much humor in it.
