It is certainly a much better film than Transformers 1

Main thing I don't like about is the political message side.
Humans are the "bad guys" in the film.
And it throws overt parallels to American foriegn policy role reversal.
What movie did you watch?

Oh come on, it wasnt that subtle.
In several spots in the movie they made it extremely clear the aliens were not hostile.
Initally only engaging in response to a hostle attack.
Little buzz balls isolating off the island leaving the kid alone.
Commando strike within the Navy ship to recover their comrade....but they stop at that. No mayhem and destruction.
On and on and on.
Several of the examples I'm talking about serve no plot purpose other than highlighting a deeper point.
Why have the multiple shots showing that they ONLY powered up weapons in response to an attack stance. And after a show of force, they are reluctant to fire, giving the humans a chance to stand down.
Why have the shot from the kid at all?
There is a reason why most "hostle alien" plots don't show events from their perspective....
Overwhelming force in self defense, but not hostle.
I would have rathered the traditional popcorn flick antagonist of them wanting to wipe us out ala Battle: LA.
THERE was a popcorn flick, nothing more.
This one, the director was trying to get a little artsy with it.

I believe that was their purpose once they contacted their homeworld.

they were here only to set up communications with their world and they showed force and defended themselves when they perceived a threat to that objective. Once they had established contact and others had arrived they would have become very hostile.

Say huh?

Except for the section reporting two men down and Hopper having to go fight the guy. This happened immediately after the recovery of their comrade.

Yeah, except for the part where they took out the whole elevated freeway killing everyone on the collapsed section.

You think Battleship had a deeper point? Other than a bad movie adaptation of a board game?
I think you may have gone to sleep during Battleship and woke up watching District 9

This movie was legit. They weren't trying to win a meaningless Oscar or change lives. It was a sci-fi action flick, not The Godfather. Also, I don't give two shits about Rihanna's acting ability because for one she is one of God's finest creatures and for two, half of her screentime was spent either running or shooting.

Its pretty crappy but there is Brooklyn Decker.

And when the alien grabbed riggins it showed them basically destroying the earth.

I watched it tonight, too. I expected it to be bad, but it was a little better than what I anticipated. I was very much entertained.

What does the battleshits scene in Harold and Kumar tell us about the long term ramifications of the Marshall Plan?

Be sure to watch from the beginning. Go in with low expectations and you may enjoy it. You will at least enjoy Brooklyn Decker.
