It was certainly the most joyless. No passion in this movie whatsoever. Plenty of bad movies at least check this box. I stand by its one of the worst movies I've ever seen simply from the joyless angle.

yeah I have trouble taking your review seriously when you put it in the company of batman and robin. I don't believe its possible that this is that bad. I guess we'll see.

Batman and Robin fun. It's actually funny. Looking at it as a comedy and it's totally bearable.

BvS is just bad and a bore. I was bored out of my mind, and then about 2 hours in I finally snap. You'll know it when you get there.

You should go watch Lilya 4-Ever or Grave of the Fireflies. You'll realize the true meaning of "joyless."

It doesn't have the ridiculous characters from Batman and Robin, nor the ridiculous costumes or set design or ridiculous story.

I'm saying that ridiculous story would have been an improvement. I really had no idea what was going on, why they were at each other's throats, why they forgive each other so easily, and what the hell Lex Luthor was doing. At least I can follow Batman and Robin.

I think emotionless is the word he is looking for. I never once felt anything for anyone in the movie.

I am fricking serious when I say that Grave of the Fireflies had more emotional high points and passion than this movie did. In my review in the spoiler thread, I say Requiem for a Dream has more, but I initially put Grave of the Fireflies.

There was literally only a single scene where I felt emotion, and its the scene from the trailer where Batman goes in kicking arse. I remembered I was actually alive, and this was a movie. I wasn't damned to some emotionless, joyless hell. And then that scene ended, and we went back to shite. That's when I snapped from being bored to utterly despising the movie.

I was being half-facetious. Two totally different genres and goals. Though, I admit I am terrible at any sort of sarcasm.

I for one hope that we get 100 more comments from OMLandshark about how BvS is joyless.

Well, I was going to go see it, but I get all my joy in life from movies. So I guess I won't.

Hmm...

Joker is a major DC villain and archnemisis of Batman

Joker is also an instructor in Top Gun who called "no joy"

Weird

I just got out of the theater. It deserves lower. I can't remember a movie I've seen before where the editing was so poorly executed. So many scenes needed more time to develop and then so many dragged on for way too long. At one point I believe there were six or more story-lines taking place and each would only get a few minutes a piece.

That does stink. The 2 parter news is now coming back to haunt them. It just sounds so rushed.

Yeah, going even further, it was one of the worst edited movies I've ever seen as well. I was so fricking confused. You went from scene to scene that don't seem to be in any way related, and then they unite, and then they cross in other ways that didn't make sense. I still have no clue why Luthor was doing what he was doing in this movie, and I feel Superman going after Batman was entirely forced. All Batman was doing was beating the shite out of child molesters, while good old Clark was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocents. Seems just ridiculous how these stories were coming together.

Setting aside personal characterization issues of several key characters, the story is actually pretty solid. It's just told in such an disorganized and incoherent manner that there are legitimate stretches of WTF and then boredom..

Seriously, why did Superman freak out over Batman? Superman was being a total dick and doing whatever he wanted all over the world. A guy in Gotham harshly takes down criminals and this is a problem for him?
