Somehow I just now watched this series for the first time. And all I can say is Wow! I’ve seen many war movies but this one was way above the rest!

I am so jealous of your getting to see it for the first time. It’s incredible. And it never gets old. God Bless those men.

Great series and very re-watchable.

This is up there with Lonesome Dove as my favorite min-series ever (and honestly, as among my favorite "filmmaking" ever, including movies and television outside of the mini-series format).

It never gets old. I can't tell you how many times I've watched it. I'm actually towards the end of watching it again. Episode 8 tonight. I always love Dike's sprint in ep. 7.

They did an incredible job making the viewer feel the comradery which is probably why I love it so much. It is hard not to get emotionally invested into it. I just wish it would have been longer.

I'll probably watch The Pacific when I get done. I've only watched it once.

Check out The Pacific if you have not seen it.

It should be required viewing for all Americans.

The Pacific is good and Rami Malek is great in the part of a pretty cynical Louisiana boy.

However I'd recomend the two main source books before the mini series. Helmet For My Pillow and With The Old Breed - two excellent books from two very different Marines.

Yup. I fire up BoB and The Pacific annually around that time.

I've never finished it without blubbering at the end of the final episode.

Absolutely heroic. One of my favorite experiences ever and I've watched it probably 5 times through.

The Pacific is good but it doesn't hit the same notes.

I think you mean spears right? That guy was a badass. Would probably be considered a war criminal today but different times.

The pacific didn’t have the same heart as BoB. I liked it but wouldn’t watch it again.

The most interesting part of the series to me was to see the real world arc of Winters. It’s inspiring to see somebody that was a normal citizen prove to be such a leader and hero. I would hope to born with that kind of toughness.

Those guys were true heroes.

It is reminiscent of Joshua Chamberlain going from college professor to respected leader of men in the Civil War.
