Just wanted to say that after watching only the first two episodes this weekend, I’m hooked and can’t wait to watch the rest of them
Felt weird seeing Ross from Friends as a drill sargent

So many of the actors are recognizable but the acting and story is so good that you eventually forget about it. Only Fallon is still Fallon to me.

He was actually pretty great in that role. A nerdy guy trying to act like a hardass

Fallon was a bit out of place, but he did all right.
Fassbender played Christenson. Moriarty as Cowboy (Hall). Perconte was a lost boy. Professor X was a replacement.

From what I read in the book, they nailed Sobel. But they pretty much all admit that his insane tactics was what made them as tough as they were. Easy Company was prepared for anything after that.

Something that threw me back when I was watching the extras was that the guy who played Winters is British. Makes me appreciate his performance that much more. The guy who played Garnier, too. He talks nothing like that.

Leibgott, Doc Roe, Welsh, Fassbender, Hardy, McAvoy, Pegg, probably some others I'm forgetting, all foreigners who did an excellent job playing an American Soldier.

Sobel interests me. His son was initially not happy at all with how he was portrayed in the miniseries.
Not well liked by his men. Seemingly an excellent trainer but mediocre field commander.
He ended up retiring as a Lt. Col. in the National Guard.
He had a strained relationship with his family. Differences in opinion on the Vietnam War would contribute to this.
He later attempted suicide, which left him blind. He and his wife would then divorce and he would live in a VA facility until he died. Apparently, there was no funeral or memorial service and no family attended.

Yea at first it didn’t work for me, but as the episode went on, it started making more sense

I also liked him in the people v OJ. I actually forget he was Ross in that too.

God he was such a douche
Although I have to say, his being a douche indirectly caused the company to have a common bond...their hatred towards Sobel
One of the funnier scenes is when they get Sobel to cut the fence by imitating one of the superior officers

To a man they'll say that Sobel got the Toccoa men that lived through with his brutal camp and Winters, Spiers, and the NCOs through the actual doing.
I think Guarnier paid Sobel's membership dues to the 101st Vets Group.
There's some weird things. Liebgott was a Catholic not a Jew. Blithe didn't die until a decade or two after the war. Webster gets his though since Ambrose kinda made him a poet warrior in the book but everyone else remembered him as kinda the lazy guy always trying for the easiest jobs. Sinks Alcoholism is turned way down to non-existent.

It's kind of a for want of the nail type thing. The real guy made Ten or so trips commandeering any vehicle he could to fed supplies into the line.
It was a morale booster for the 101st as they were being passed by guys that didn't fight until they had nothing left.

Posted on 12/11/17 at 7:48 pm to Mr. Hangover
I think it's on Amazon Prime Video.

I’m not familiar with amazon TV so excuse my ignorance, how do I watch it?
Posted on 12/11/17 at 8:12 pm to Mr. Hangover
An App. It’s also on HBOGO of course.
Posted on 12/11/17 at 8:16 pm to Mr. Hangover
Do you have Amazon Prime?
And yes HBOGO app as well I assume. I got rid of my subscription since GOT is on a break.
