Last night I was thinking about the meaning of Memorial Day, honoring the soldiers who died serving our country, and I wanted to watch a fitting movie.

While looking over HBOMax's (well, just Max now, which is stupid) I came across Band of Brothers. I haven't watched it since it first aired.

So I decided a re-watch was the perfect choice.

Holy shite. Episode 1, Currahee, is one of the best first episodes of a series ever. Everything about it is so well done. The time jumps that draw you in, the editing from character to character so that you quickly get an idea of who these guys are, the vast differences in leadership styles between Sobel and Winters. It's all perfect.

In fact I'm thinking about using the first 15 minutes or so of the episode for a talk on leadership I'd like to do for my employees. Winters and Sobel are perfect examples of good vs bad leadership.

I ended up watching 3 episodes and not getting to bed until midnight.

Currahee!

David Schwimmer did a fantastic job playing the martinet.

Sobel wasn't a combat commander, for sure, but all of Easy credit their time under his command for making them the soldiers they were.

Like that line from Nixon: "You know a man in this company who wouldn't double-time Currahee with a full pack, just to piss in that man's morning coffee?"

I probably don't think of this as much as I should when "GOAT" TV comes up.

Puzzling. Cause I've watched it so many times.

The finale gets me every damn time.

Time for another rewatch.

I think it’s the greatest television series of all time. I rewatch it at least once a year

If you haven’t seen Band of Brothers, drop what you’re doing and check it out. Amazing series.

My Favorite thing ever filmed. My 10 year old son loves it. Episode 7 is our favorite. God bless those men and all that made the biggest selfless sacrifice. God bless and HELP the USA!

If the takeoff scene at the end of Episode 1 doesn’t give you chills, you’re not human.

I cry like a baby every time at the very end when the real Major Winters reads the letter from Mike Ranney saying “I wasn’t a hero in the war, but I served with a company of heroes”.
Instant water works.
God bless the greatest generation.

Been watching it all day, off and in, with my 6 & 9 year old. They need to understand how ugly war really is. Perfect series for that. Had to turn the channel a few times to give them a bit of a break.

This is one I know every scene but I need to sit down and give it a full watch again.

The first time watching it one of the fun things was to try to figure out who the people in the interviews actually were.

Spears about to go legend here. If this is 100% accurate that guy was the biggest badass ever. I have every reason to believe all of this is true and accurate as it was written by Winters, who was there.

The absolute guts these guys had is incredible.

Spears kinda steals the show when he joins easy company.

He was a bad mother fricker.

"Captain Sobel: we salute the rank, not the man"

What an epic own, and it was quite a lont time in the making.

One of the best moments in the series.

They don't call them the greatest generation for nothing.

The men were men and they were bad arse.
