I'm sure I'll catch some shite and be labeled Un-American for this, but I found Band of Brothers to be overrated. I bought the series from Amazon for $20, but I just can't get into it. I'm 2/3rds of the way through it and just don't feel like finishing it. Do the last two discs make up for it?

Even as a proud serviceman, I kind of agree with you

What I do like about it is the accounts from the real men. It's very well done, just wasn't pulled in by the story.

I really liked it. I actually warn people who happen to see it in my collection and want to watch it not to start because they will not want to do anything else for the next 12 hours. One of my buddies didn't believe me and was still watching them when I went to bed. I guess it's not for everyone though.

You are the first few people I have ever heard say they didn't like it.

The series is beyond amazing. Imo, the best thing ever shown on TV. I've watched the series 4 or 5 times and every time it is just as good as the first.

I wouldt day it's overrated, but that's like, your opinion, man.

Coco texted me when the marathon started at three yesterday afternoon and I watched til about 9. I always catch it and start on the Bastogne part, do it was nice to see the beginning up to that point. It isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, i do think it is really really good. I also like the personal accounts from the guys that were there. I just wish they'd tell you who was who earlier than towards the end. I hope the pacific version is as good as the original.

IMO, the best miniseries in the history of television. I think, though, that when you try to watch it all the way through it's just too long.

I originally saw it in its first airing on HBO, once a week for 10 weeks. Break it up a bit and you'll probably feel like it's not such a chore.

The last two episodes do, imho, lift it up a bit. YOu have such a connection to the main characters by this time that when the end of the war is announced you feel the relief in all of them. Storming the Eagles's Nest, finding Goehring's wine cellar, reviewing Easy Company's future bios while watching the softball game--all classic scenes.

But the scene where the German General is talking to his troops at their surrender, followed by Major Winters (the real one) and his final quote about "heros" takes all the emotions you feel from watching B.o.B. to their peak.

I get teary-eyed just thinking about that last scene.

I've watched the series 4 times. Everytime I watch the first episode I get sucked back into watching the whole thing. I'm ready for the Band of Brothers Pacific to come out.

i love this series..one of my top of all time..and yes, hearing the story from the actual veteran's lips make it even better..when all the bullshite textbook discusions about how WWI played out and endless academic spin ends up dominating how most people percieve the war...i'll always have this disk set to get a different perspective..from the lips of the veterans themselves.

The "Why We Fight" episode might be the single most powerful piece of TV I have ever watched. Along with the other poster, I have honestly never heard of anyone that didn't like this series until now.

It is the best miniseries ever, but thats my opinion. I've probably watched it all the way through 7 or 8 times.

Beautiful ending with them flying into the night towards Normandy.

IMO...it's probably one of the best things ever put on TV.

Why would we care how much you paid for it?
