Oh yeah. It’s already huge. I just think there are factors that will keep it from reaching projections after that initial opening. It’s still a fricking massive hit

I'm sure Disney is disappointed... Lol
Pretty sure it's going to take the world wide crown, but TFA domestic looking unlikely if those Friday numbers hold

TFA’s domestic record wasn’t happening unless they released it a week earlier and Pikachu and John Wick swapped release dates.

#AvengersEndgame broke the $500M mark at the domestic #boxoffice on FRI with $40.6M pushing cume to $514.5M. 2nd wknd looks on track to hit the $140M range lifting total to around $615M after the 2nd wknd for #9 all-time. Final north of $900M seems likely for #Endgame.

Should pass 2 billion today
Posted on 5/4/19 at 12:28 pm to ell_13
Definitely. Disney generally negotiates to have 75-80% of the first two weeks of it’s major releases each year (at least domestically), so that’s why they promote them so heavily early and often and then move on. They don’t care if a movie gets 20 million in its 5th weekend, they’ll only get 40-50% of that anyways.

Domestic estimate for the weekend at 145.8. Brings total to 619.7.

So this second weekend total would be less than TFA second weekend. The domestic race will be a close one.

shite thats only like 600 mil away from Avatar. Will it actually beat it?
Posted on 5/5/19 at 11:05 am to MF Doom
Yes...it was pretty much a lock after that massive opening weekend.
Posted on 5/5/19 at 11:06 am to MF Doom
It will easily pass Avatar. The real question is will it hit $3 billion.
Posted on 5/5/19 at 11:09 am to RLDSC FAN
shite m8 imagine how much money star wars 9 would've made if TLJ didn't suck arse
Posted on 5/5/19 at 11:13 am to MF Doom
Yeah, they fricked that up. Domestically, it could've hit 1 billion. WW wouldn't do any more than 2 Billion though. Star Wars is bigger here than internationally. China doesn't give a frick about it.

These numbers are staggering. I haven’t seen this yet, but I probably will next week.

Yeah I just learned that China never saw the original theater releases of Star Wars OT back in the late 70s/early 80s because of strict communist rule.
When the foreign movie clamps were lessened by the time the Phantom Menace was released, there was no built-in audience frothing at the mouth to see it. It was just another new franchise to them. TPM was their introduction to the Star Wars universe. Sad.
But it explains why the SW-China box office always underwhelms.

I don’t think it beats TFA domestic but likely will topple Avatar. Those first weekend numbers were insane
Posted on 5/5/19 at 12:28 pm to WicKed WayZ
Domestic records look unlikely, especially considering the upcoming competition. Pikachu is already tracking 70+
Posted on 5/5/19 at 12:30 pm to UltimaParadox
Endgame will be number one for at least the next two weekends
