would’ve loved to see Harwin Strong and Criston Cole fight.
HBO has softened Rhaenyra quite a bit and tried to make her more sympathetic. In the book, pretty much everything bad is caused by the two main women, with Rhaenyra very much causing and deserving her own downfall. On the show, it looks like they're setting her up to be a victim of overbearing men, which is typical.
Nevertheless, I still like it. At least we get more action this season.

Blacks
HOTD is entertaining, but I have to say that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was some of the most compelling GOT content I've seen in years. Being familiar with the various House archetypes and seeing generations only referenced in tapestries & songs has been super entertaining.
The one decent Targ in generations sticks his neck out for justice and pays the price for it.
Brutal.

I thought Cole kind of let him win. Also, I was talking about more like a sword fight.

Not sure why you're getting so many downvotes, season 2 was abysmal.

They might have an argument if Alicent’s sons weren’t much worse.

In the books, Cole beats Harwin in a tourney duel and breaks his arm or something.
In both, we're definitely supposed to think that Cole is one of the best fighters in the kingdom.

Ah, gotcha. I read the book a while ago and don’t remember that part.

That’s an argument for who is the heir to the iron throne. Rhaenyra is the rightful ruler at this point.

It was the most boring show I've ever watched. It was awful

The Outcome: Cole, fighting with intense fury after being rejected by Rhaenyra, easily defeats Harwin. He shatters Harwin's collarbone and elbow, which earns Harwin the mocking nickname "Brokenbones".

It is an unpopular opinion on this site, but I am Team Green. Kings aren't allowed to choose their favorite heirs. Both in the universe of the books, and in real life medieval history that it is heavily based on, it never worked that way.
Prior to the Norman invasion Kings would be elected by a witan held by the nobles. Following the conquest the law of the land was primogeniture.
Likewise in the story of House of the Dragon, Jaehaerys I held a council to help settle the succession issue rather than simply appointing his preferred choice. The nobles overlooked the claim of Rhaenys in favor of Viserys who was further down the line of succession but the closest living male. This established the precedent that already existed in Andal tradition, that primogeniture holds supreme, but also that nobles have a right to weigh in on matters of succession.
Viserys overstepped his power as king by forcing nobles to swear fealty to his daughter as heir and continuing to hold them to those oaths despite the fact that his oldest son Aegon had a stronger claim based on both law and precedent. If he wanted her to succeed him then getting remarried and having three sons was incredibly dangerous and stupid.

I don’t even remember what happened in Season 2, it was that putrid.
I’m not rewatching it either, I’ll just cram a Wikipedia session in before S3. That’s all S2 deserves

quote:He married Alicent so he could produce insurance heirs in case something happened to Rhaenyra. If she died, Daemon would have heavily pressed his claim and I don.t think Viserys wanted that at all. He wanted one of his own children to succeed him.

Don't like any of them. I'm not sad that the dance with dragons kills a bunch of them.

Yea, if you think about GOT and the HOD, its all about women power.
Women who can beat men - the big bitch (Her beating the hound was one of the weakest moments of the show to me.
Women who lead - Cercie, dragon lady, sansa
Woman who kills the biggest baddest mofo in the show - Aria
Then there is HOD like you said, those two going at each other all the time.

They’ve definitely twisted the source material that’s why Martin said he’s done with it.

Irrelevant, bastards can’t inherit.

Same, I’m going in with anticipation and hope because it still has a ton of potential and great performers in the cast.

lol yes Teeter was bad, not sure what language she was speaking but if you listen to Tyrion’s accent in GOT it’s pretty bad as well.
