Are there any other Battlebots fans here?

I am A wannabe gearhead so I really get a kick out of this show. I think the presentation is really good.

I watch it, but honestly only for the actual battles. I couldn't care less about the backstories and the drivers and whatnot. I can watch the entire two-hour episode in about 25 minutes since I only watch the battles and maybe parts of the interviews if I'm interested (like the one a week or two ago where the dude won a decision by just pushing HUGE around the whole time...HGUE's driver was big mad and it was hilarious).

I love the variety of the different robots and fighting styles. I wonder what sort of rules are in place to promote that variety, or else all the robots would be clones of Tombstone or other top bots.

I kind of wonder something like this as well, especially considering some designs have glaring weaknesses against other designs and get destroyed quickly in those pairings.

It was. The rest of the card was bad though. Well, the Mammoth fight had some action, it was just over fast.

I haven't seen the bot from last year by the Navy Seal dude. Deep Six, maybe? It's vertical bar spun so fast it would nearly lift it off the ground.

Hydra and Uppercut are the best robots I’ve seen this year. Would love to see that battle.

They get chosen to compete and the show brings in a variety of styles just because like you many people like the variety. Plus it helps move the "sport" along by encouraging people to try something new. If I went out and built another vertical/horizontal/drum spinner the chances of me getting on the show would be almost nil but one of the oddball walking bots or one of the huge creations has a shot of making it on the show.

We've been watching since it was on Spike/Comedy Central and we even transferred the few tapes we had to DVDs.

There was even a Battlebots presence on a CSI episode, darn, it may have been twenty years ago, now.

We don't have Discovery+ so we aren't seeing the other version they have of Battlebots (Bronco and Chomp have been seen in their promos) and I hope we can see it somewhere else later this year.

With a firm dislike for minibots and drones, I wonder why they have curtailed Faruq's introductions to "It's robot fighting time."
