I started it a few years back and dipped out when the two dudes were floating butt naked making out, but came back around to it a few weeks ago and got hooked on it. Season 3 with Lestat as a rockstar has been a trip. I'm guessing they're going to do Queen of the Damned for season 4?

I love good vampire stuff but my wife warned me off about this. “You would not like this”. Apparently ultra-gayed up beyond even Rice’s novels.

My favorite New Orleans feud was between her and the Copeland's restaurant owner.

They accused each other of having shitty taste and worse. It was enjoyable because both were correct

It leans VERY heavily into the gay aspects of the story. Also, they add a racial element to the plot that's not present in the novels by making both Louis and Claudia black and moving the story forward in time to the early 1900's. That said, it's very well done and the acting is first rate, with a predominately British cast faking bad New Orleans accents. It's also surprisingly gory for a television show.

I've been watching it. Was a huge fan of the books back in the day.

Definitely the gayest show I've ever seen. It makes Brokeback Mountain look like No Country For Old Men.

That being said it's a very well put together show. The producers have put a lot of thought into the plot and dropping just the right Easter eggs at just the right time. It wildly departs from the books but stays close enough to the core principals to keep it from completely alienating the Anne Rice fan base. And the cast is really killing it playing up the vampires in a more modern take.

Currently leading up to Queen of The Dammed. Can't wait to see how that unfolds.

I kind of remember this, so I looked it up, and holy shite

Nola.com

The 90s were a wild time to be alive.

To be honest I always kind of assumed Anne wasn't actually from New Orleans. She always had that attitude of a Bywater Bohemian transplant or a 9th Ward gentrifier. You know, those people who aren't from New Orleans, but move here and act like they own the place anyway. I had to look that up too, and she was born in the Irish Channel. So I stand corrected.

The show, from the small bits I’ve seen, is SUPER gay. Way more than the books implied

He was going to turn the former Packard Dealership into a restaurant. But she protested because in her books that building was mentioned twice. In the end it became a melting pot. Then Al Copeland made the building across the street a Straya, then Cheesecake Bistro.

I went to a Halloween party at her house. I know those things pissed Copeland off.

I have watched all of the Lestat episodes and I'm disappointed. The dialogue seems like it is written by a team of snippy gay guys who are trying to be more clever than each other. No characters seems to have any depth and the creators seem to try and shock the viewer with each scene.
The Interview With The Vampire series that proceeded this (although flawed) was more thoughtful and measured. This is just a coke fuled folley of a story.

We didn’t watch seasons 1 & 2 because the changes made undermined the characters’ essence and motivations. Aging Claudia was a huge mistake.

Enjoying season 3 because TVL was always my favorite of the books. And Sam Reid as Lestat is a trip.

But. I. Can’t. Stand. Louis. He’s not a hoodlum. He’s not black. And I couldn't care less about all of his side stories that they just made up for the show.

By far, but damn I love rockstar Lestat, tho the incest shite with his mom is wild. Dude has got some charisma tho. If he wasn't an actor, he could definitely be a frontman for a rock band. Also, some of the songs aren't half bad.

Yeah, I gotta disagree on that, but to each their own.
