Sad way he died. He died of a heart attack on the set of The Royal Family in 1991. No one believed he was serious about his chest pains because of the "big one" gag on Sanford and Son

Was one of the shows we would watch every week back when I was a kid. One of the best shows ever.
Interesting fact: Redd Foxx's real last name was Sanford. His father and brother's name was Fred G. Sanford (JR)

Great show intro music.
Great show all around.
Loved the back and forth with Aunt Ester.
Lamont just seemed like an all-around good dude.

Sanford and Son might be my favorite show of all time. I always loved that episode were he came back from St Louis and thought Lamont like Grady more then him and went got drunk as shite.
Lamont: Pop how much have you had to drink?
Fred: How deep is the ocean?

Richard Pryor and Paul Mooney were writers in the first 2 or 3 seasons. You can tell that there was a big drop off in how funny the show was after they left imo.

I watched it almost every night before Braves games in the 80s and early 90s

What a great show.
Some Bammer Trivia: Derrick Lassic, the Alabama RB in 1992, used to do the "I'm Coming Elizabeth" after he scored a touchdown. He'd put his hand over his heart and wobble around. It was funny stuff.

Used to watch it with my grandfather every time. He would laugh until he'd start coughing uncontrollably while smoking his hand rolled cigarettes.
Would always tell me, "That's one funny n*****!"

It's one of my top old sitcoms to watch. I have season 2 and 3 DVDs that I pop in sometimes.

I met Redd Foxx in Vegas a couple years before his death. My first wife and I were on our honeymoon and went to one of his stand up comedy shows. Anyway he cracked on us about being on our honeymoon, telling me how I should please her and such lol. After the show the guard come got us and he invited us to come have drinks with him and his lady (Asian ) at a private bar. We did and I can tell you he was great. It's something I'll never forget

The best episode was the one where Lamont accidentally made a salad out of a pot plant and fed it to the cops.

I liked Sanford & Son, but preferred Good Times.
