No, you are in fact incorrect, at least in part regarding Bale. I was going to say Bale had nothing to do with the canceled Batman: Year One project but a check on Wiki says that he was at least approached. Considering Bale's slow rise in the early 2000s, both in his roles and the internet fans pushing for Bale as Batman, not surprising. Brandon Routh, though, had nothing to do with Batman vs Superman. Warner Bros and Wolfgang Peterson were either looking for/had cast Colin Farell as Batman and Jude Law as Superman. I know they had approached Josh Hartnet for Superman, who turned it down then and every other time he has been offered the role (thank God b/c he is wrong for the part). Routh DID audition for the also-canceled McG directed/ JJ Abrams written Superman: Flyby project, and it was this audition that got in the hands of Bryan Singer, which led to Routh landing the part in Superman Returns

So you believe everything you read on Wikipedia? You essentially copy, pasted, and rearranged a few words from wikipedia from articles that are conveniently no longer available.

Routh was offered Batman vs. Superman, but the project died before anyone was every formally cast in the role.

That movie was never going to happen nor was Batman: Year One.

Anne Hathaway is hot.

I'll go watch just because of that.

All that I looked to Wikipedia for was the Bale in Batman: Year One info, as I never remember hearing that when this project was in planning stages. Everything else was from keeping up with the projects over the years. Aside from having read comics regularly since 1992, I read Wizard Magazine during its heyday, hearing here and in the now defunct magazine Cinemascape of the production details of every stage of the Batman and Superman film series since the mid-90s. Beginning with the dawn of comic book websites such as Newsarama, Comic Book Resources, and SuperHeroHype, I have since gotten my Super Hero movie information from there, so I know what I am talking about. During the Superman Vs Batman development was during a time when Warner Bros was madly pushing for "name" actors for the role of Superman. Josh Hartnett was many times offered Superman and turned it down, as was Jude Law, at one time Christian Bale, Ashton Kutcher, Paul Walker, Brenden Fraser. Brandon Routh had no involvement until the time of the JJ Abrams-scripted project, as he screen tested for that project. During the time when this project was to be directed by Brett Ratner instead of McG, Matthew Bomer of the show White Collar was either cast as Superman or was nearly cast (and Bomer sort of HAS gotten to play Superman, in some Japanese commercial-its on You Tube, with him in the Superman Returns costume).

So, what were you saying about me just copy and pasting Wikipedia info?

EDIT: Let me add that I am not saying Brandon Routh didn't audition for Batman vs Superman. He very well might have. But he was never offered the role for that movie.

And you completely missed my point and you obviously can't comprehend what I wrote. But since you are out of this thread I won't bother breaking it down for you.

This thread literally put a retainer in my mouth, a pocket protector in my pocket, and re-established my virginity. I think Nolan is above the comics (as he should be). I don't think he considers anything canon.

After TDK, this film needs a character like Catwoman to add some levity/fun.

If Nolan's going to use the character, it would be a mistake to not address the eroticism between Kyle and Bruce/Batman. I find it funny that in Nolan's "real" world, sex is practically non-existant.

and Im calling bullshite on Hardy as Bane. Nolan has been so secretive in the past, why would he reveal the villains before a frame of the film has been shot? I think this is some kind of set-up for another viral campaign or something.

If it's true, it's disappointing. Bane is a uninteresting character; moreover, Hardy could knock Strange out of the park.

Think they'll do a whole "Secret Six" thing with Bane and Catwoman?

No way. No Schumacher-effect please. Nolan's world needs no fun/levity. That would be completely out of touch, it would never stick.

Nolan has set up Batman to be an extremely driven and sacrificial person. I think leaving out sex and some real views of a "relationship" have proven good choices. Any sex or "relationship" would feel forced. The last two films have worked well.

The Selina Kyle inclusion does tell me there is a chance of something bigger in terms of a Wayne relationship, which of course leads back to the first questions in this thread...

Allow me to interject, when Darren Aronofksy was attached to the project before Nolan, he was in fact doing Batman: Year One. That was widely known.

And pre-production was far enough along that, if I am not mistaken, design art had already been done for at least a Batmobile and possibly Bat-Suit ideas. I couldn't find a link, so I can't say for sure if the designs I remember seeing were for other Batman projects or fan design work

This also depends on where you draw the line on when something is "happening."

In Hollywood, the amount of projects being made is stunning. There are plenty of movies that are greenlit, get cast and crew, and are shuttered before filming. It seems both of these "did it happen or did it not" discussions are really just semantics.

Does anyone remember Jurassic Park 4: Dinosaucers and Lasers??

Exactly. That WAS going to happen.

go watch skinimax if that's what you want. Yeah lets throw sex scenes in little house on the praire and toy story 4 as well, because that would make it more "real"

I'm sick of every movie forcing sex down everyone's throat. its as much a crutch for lack of story as is pounding out 200 f-bombs in lieu of good writing.

All I know is that Anne Hathaway is a lot better than Joey Potter and Maggie G.

Because Bane broke Batman's back in the comics you have to think that the entire time you are watching the film you'll be on the edge of your seat thinking, "Will Nolan Kill Batman?"

So it's got that going for it, which is nice.

It doesn't have to be Schumacher-esque and it doesn't have to be "dark" to the point of silliness, either. Having a woman dress up as a cat is silly, no matter how fricking "dark and gritty" Nolan spins it. They might as well have fun with it.

Erotic undertones are practically unavoidable with Batman and his villains -- especially Catwoman... i.e., Prey, The Long Halloween.

I've been saying this for a while now. First time I've heard it backed up.
When it was announced that True Grit was going to be pg-13 multiple people on here were like "im out". Give me a break. Just bc you aren't going to see tits or the bad guys don't drop the f bomb 50 times doesn't mean it isn't going to be a really good movie. I applaud a good pg-13 movie, that's hard to do nowadays.

I've never found it "'dark' to the point of silliness". There have been several moments of levity in both of Nolan's Batman flicks. I really like the banter between Bale and Caine as well as Bale and Oldman. Anything past that would threaten the serious and dark tone which is what Batman is all about. The majority of these characters are born out of trajedy. Making it more palatable by injecting more humor would be turning their backs on the essence of this series and what has made it successful. Basically, it would become the X-Men...a fricking joke.
