To the Survival show fans, the GOAT of these types of shows, ALONE, returns next week with a new twist. This time it will be survive for 100 days alone and get 1 Million Dollars.

Here the Trailer form the History Channel:

LINK

In all of the season, no person has gone 100 days. We had one person make it in the 90's. Some of the winners from the were days from being medically tapped-out due to weight loss while a few could have gone quite a bit longer like last years winner ,Jordan, who had plenty of moose meat and fish.

I don't know where they are staying this year, but I would be fine with them returning to Slave Lake like last year.

I hope it's another good season.

They put a season on Netflix. I think it is season six. It is pretty good. They sort of just jump into it. I would love to know what everybody picked as their 10 items. I found the list on the website (LINK /).

I don't think I'd pick the bow. I'd go with a sling shot. Also, I haven't seen any body eat prepacked food. They let you pick some. I'd take two of them, 1/4 pound a day. That's 40 days of some kind of caloric intake. Also, I wouldn't waste my time on fishing. I'd totally suck at the show. But I am fat and don't mind being by myself. I think I could go well over a month..

History Chanel's YouTube Channel Has Most of the Candidates 10 Items in little vignettes. Here's everything I've found for this upcoming season:

Alone: Roland

Alone: Joe

Alone: Amos

Alone: Joel

Alone: Keith

I need to get on this. Love the show.

So far only one person has had success with a bow & arrow... but if you can take down big game you can last a long time.

Just listened to his JRE episode. He could do a year. If season 6 is on Netflix, then I know what I’m starting during this damn storm

Yeah, its season 6. I'm in the middle of it. Cool that Jordan wins. He is having hell protecting all that food now. Why do people build fires in their shelters? Why doesn't anyone makes a cave? There are tons of hills.. I am really over thinking this stuff now..

On the podcast he said that he had 200lbs of moose meat left when it ended. From Day 1, he was thinking about how to take a moose down. He considered the game trails, etc. when he decided where to build his shelter.

Maybe that’s why they went to the 100-days format; someone showed that it was possible to flourish and the “last man standing” format would drag on and on. At the 100 day mark, just end it and split the money between the survivors.

The show runners had to edit the show in such a way that Jordan looked like he was struggling. As long as the cold didn't get to low, Jordan wasn't going anywhere.

Plus 10-15 huge fish and the Wolverine. He was basically at his normal weight. He tried to fatten up prior to going in. The only weight he lost was the extra stuff he put on.

I don't know. It seems like he is struggling emotionally. The boredom is getting to him and he is loopy. One guy just quit for that reason, had over a week of food stored up. Some people can't mentally take it..

I just noticed Jordan was on Joe Rogan’s Podcast the other day. That should be an interesting listen.

I don't know what show you were watching, but that didn't happen. I just finished it. He was afraid they were about to shut him down from losing so much weight. He didn't have any fat, cause the wolverines kept taking it. He was desperate and about to quit. Unless it was all theatre..

He even said that he had trouble sleeping the night before the check in crew showed up because he was trying to think of ways he could convince them that he was healthy enough to continue.

Yeah some of the shelter builds and locations are questionable. I think season 4 maybe, with the guy smoking all that fish had a pretty good shelter made of mostly rock.

Before having a wife and kids it would have been fun to try.

One of my biggest challenges would be conserving energy. I'd probably be too obsessed with building a solid shelter/ fireplace that I burn up too many calories early.

I think that not knowing the end date is part of the mental aspect of survival. If you know how long you need to make it from the onset, it's much easier to count down than to keep counting to infinity. You can keep pushing yourself if you know where the goal line is. A bunch of people tap out because they just don't want to keep going because they don't know how much longer they can make it.

He wasn't going anywhere, and in no way was he struggling, unless you call having to protect his food every night struggling.

I think that's a great observation. I would guess that out there the contestants are frequently wondering as the days come and go how many are left?

As you said, knowing what the goal is, you don't have to worry about the other participants. Just focus on making it to the 100th day...

Some people will be other there for less than a week and say to hell with this and tap because they know know they aren't willing to go the distance. Others will get homesick and others will hurt themselves.

I think this year you may see more people get medically tapped. Aside from Jordan, who was thriving, most contestants the get past about day 70 are losing so much weight it's dangerous to continue.

S7 Episode 1:

Really good show. Shawn was the main story. He had everything going for him. He found a boat, shovel, empty gas can and was in the process of building a fine cabin and lost the damned ferro rod and had to tap on day 10. It's easy to be an armchair QB but it seems like he gave up too soon. Granted, it's hard to tell how his food situation was but to be selected for the show and to make as much progress I would have tried friction fires but he didn't even seem interested in trying. Heck, he could have tried using his eyeglasses to make a fire with the sun.

Hard to get a read on the other 3 that were shown. After 10 days they are all in good shape and seem fine. It seems they were all having success at getting some kills with porcupines, rabbits and squirrels.

I suspect the girl, Kiely, will struggle emotionally if getting upset at killing a rabbit brought her to tears. That's not going to work out there.

I liked how Colby, from "Survivor", had a post show interview with the 4 people shown on the episode to talk about their experience that was viewed.

Looks like it's going to be another good season.
