Random comment, but I found it strange the soldiers came in “guns blazing” for a mere crash and rescue people mission. If I’m a survivor in the building, I’d be a little taken aback to have guns pointed in my face while being rescued.

I guess I would understand if the soldiers were expecting hostile aliens or an attacking military/force, but there was no mention of that and they all seemed surprised to encounter aliens.

Damn. That was fantastic... really nailed the Alien/Aliens vibe and aesthetic. They must have spent a fortune on set design.

I'm a huge Alien/Aliens fan but I've had zero knowledge of this going in, I just assumed it was going to be disappointing. I certainly didn't know Noah Hawley was running the show as I loved Legion.

Yes. She ripped the blade off of one of those old school paper cutter things.

Do we know when this takes place? All it says in the opening text is “in the future.”

2 years before Alien but its been stated by Hawley in several interviews that this series is essentially a parallel reality to the films. Anyone expecting it to adhere religiously to any sort of "canon" or lore might be disappointed.

This. They're not pretending everything is going to line up perfectly in the timeline.

They also did a real good job of having me despise that cyborg Morrow in record time. I wanted that alien to rip its head off. What was up with that weird party in the building? I must’ve missed the explanation right before Wendy’s brother managed to get into the apartment. Some Eyes Wide Shut vibes

yep, could appreciate even the small details of the 70s hairstyles of the actors matching up to the time when Alien was released. Those sets were outstanding.

Damn.. ep 2 got brutal and FAST.
The whole sequence on the apartment level floor was insane. Never seen a face bite quite that gory either.

This show has started really strong though.
I like Wendy for the most part.. still trying to figure out how her depths of emotions or lack thereof will come into play.

The lack of info about earth and its politics in the movies always interested me so getting to see the prodigy and WY interactions is very cool.

I think the thing about Alien movies is there’s usually not a ton of people and it’s very cat and mouse. Usually 10-15 people or less. This show has a whole populace and so it does feel less scary and more entertaining as there is an odd security in numbers element.

Spoiler:
I had a feeling the brother would get kidnapped or killed in this episode.. when they were in the hallway where the brother finds out Wendy is his sister, they did an awesome job with the cameras because I genuinely thought he was going to get stabbed or face bit from behind. Had me on edge.

Man I'm straight up surprised I liked the first 2 episodes as much as I do. New aliens are cool, olyphant asking if Wendy would like for him to kill the scorpion kinda foreshadowing how they'd approach the xenos maybe?

Children's minds in the body of these apex synths isn't annoying.

That crash into the skyscraper was awesome and there was a cool little tracking shot as they kinda worked their way up the hill into it. Just all around pretty strong intro.

Is it gonna be 2 episodes every week or was that just the premiere?

Seems a little ridiculous that earth didn’t see this ship coming in advance and wasn’t prepared for it.

I got the idea that that’s where they wanted it to land because they wanted what was on the ship. And the black guy intentionally wrecked the ship in space and had it head to that exact location otherwise it would be too big a coincidence to me. So the ship belonged to someone else (the Asian lady) but the black guy was working on the inside for Weyland (assuming that’s who they are). So I assumed they were expecting it but had to make it still seem like an accident.

The first responders seemed woefully inadequate. That’s what bothered me. Even if their fighting force wasn’t up to snuff because of their location they should have at least had better biohazard abilities. Their rescuers would be terrible even by today’s standards. Lack of protection, shitty coms. They didn’t even have sensors to determine when someone was killed as far as I could tell. None of that would be beyond the realm of technology they should have at that point. And they sent them in with no means of containment? Unless you count throwing a pot over one of the creatures. Just seemed really goofy.

It has a samurai handle and sheeth.
But what do I know.

I was thrown off with the first 2 esposides.

1. Like the other poster in here, the resuce team seemed to be ill equipped and thin for that type of response. I mean a freakin Giant space ship crashed into earth and thats all they had for a reponse team.

2. The personalities threw me off. Then you have to realize they are kids in adult synthetic suits. Thats why their personailties seem so off and chaotic with the scenes.

3. They end the second esposide with Tools, 46 & 2 closes out the show.
Which is pretty good. IF anyone knows the back story behind the song. its about the next evolution in human advancement, with the next 2 chromosones.

4. Im still confused, trying to figure out who is human, hybrid, android, synthetic, etc. And the personalities. But I enjoyed it. Im asking myself maybe im too old for this Sh*t.

yeah it somehow ends up working, I was cracking up when that one dude was just watching the spore/alien size him up and then is invited to the next room and just non chalantly walks off

Oh and fuccccck that little eyeball alien, that thing gave me the legit creeps and made my skin crawl. It’s shifting and the multiple eyes from one, yeah f all that. Bravo to whoever created that nightmare fuel.

All the Alien prequels are pretty boxed in by the date chosen for the original. Should have been much later. The ship that crashes in this was at the end of a 65 year mission meaning it would have taken off only 30 years from now. We’re struggling to get back to our own moon not to mention something like Mars even.

It’s doesn’t have a samurai handle or sheath. Have you ever seen an actual katana?

That was not 46 & 2, it was Stinkfist.
