Getting $9.5 million because someone made you uncomfortable seems like a pretty sweet gig.
The trade off is that this is likely the end of her acting career. She better hope that money lasts.

CBS didn't put a non-disclosure clause in the settlement agreement?

What else do you call windowless van?
Honestly, it sounds like she created an issue so she could sue and cash in. Well played.

I don't know. There isn't any other possible term for a windowless van. Maybe some insane vernacular like "delivery van" or "cargo van", or even just... "van". But those just sound like made up names.
How's a guy supposed to finish a sentence without saying rape? Might as well take away vowels or consonants.

The suit was for writing her off the show after she didn’t like the rape jokes

She was in the right but you are correct in that this will affect her employment. Who wants to take on the risk? I'm the producer and might have to fork over millions of dollars because I can't babysit everyone? Easier to get rid of the person that will say something

CBS reached a $9.5 million confidential settlement last year with actress Eliza Dushku after on-set sexual comments from Michael Weatherly, star of the network's show "Bull," made her uncomfortable when she was beginning a run as a recurring character.
Panhandling has come a long way since Friday

So what really happened was he was acting like a pig, she told the producers she didn't like it, and they fired her which set themselves up to have to fork out a ton of cash b/c they were about to look like total shitbags for canning a woman who didn't want to hear rape jokes at work. They were also likely in breach of her deal to be a series regular so they painted themselves in a corner. This is no different than a football team having to pay the remainder of a coach's contract that they weren't able to fire with cause.
Ok this makes more sense

The attorney from CBS tried to use out takes of the show to highlight her being overreaching, and apparently it looked even worse for CBS. Sounds like the attorney did a horrible job on the case.

I’m sorry, but how are some people taking his side on this? I’m all about offensive comedy, but for it to work, it can’t be specific.
I’ve been around a pretty wild group of people most of my life, and there isn’t one women in my life that would be ok with me joking that I was going to rape them. Now think about this situation where it’s just some dude she works with joking about raping her.
Also, from the looks of things, she just wanted it to stop and was fired. This is on CBS. They fricked up.

That’s not how it went down. Context matters!
The script had that built in as a joke. Her character was confronting him outside of his stake-out van and he was supposed to say “would you like to step into my windowless white van” which was the script itself jokingly acknowledging how creepy everyone thinks those things are. Only, Weatherly, taking the joke up a notch, said the line as “would you like to step into my rape van.”
My own wife calls them rape vans and child molester vans. It’s a pretty common term.

Didn’t he also make a comment about there being objects inside the van for him to rape her with or something? Plus he supposedly routinely made other comments to her on set.
Either way, all she did was ask for it to stop, and she was fired. And she didn’t make this public. CBS screwed this up, not Eliza.

I mean, a guy can’t hit on a hot piece anymore? I’m glad I’m married. I wouldn’t survive in today’s singles market. I was always really up-front, like Bull, and in my day, they appreciated it. Eliza sounds like a real shrew.

They are at work my dude. The hell is wrong with you? She isn't there to have some jackass say lewd shite to her.

What does that have to do with anything? Even if a guy is being really aggressive hitting on a “hot piece”, the shite he said to her still wouldn’t be said. The dude was asking his coworker that he clearly isn’t friends with about him spanking her, them having a threesome, apart from the rape van stuff.
The craziest part about this is she literally didn’t do anything wrong. She handled it the right way with her coworker. Then he ratted her out to higher ups, and she got fired. The money she got was for her future potential earnings on the show.
Both Weatherly and CBS admitted they fricked up. Only reason this was found and came out is CBS was being investigated for other stuff like this. Dushku has nothing to do with this getting out and hasn’t said a word about it.

Now we see what happens when Gibbs isn't around to slap the shite out of DiNozzo regularly.

No, we see what a great actor he is. "Bull" is an alcoholic on the show. Weatherly had delved into the character so much that off screen he still acted like an alcoholic. He propositioned her like an alcoholic would because he could not get out of character (staying true to the art). It's really not his fault for getting caught up in his great acting ability.
