CBS reached a $9.5 million confidential settlement last year with actress Eliza Dushku after on-set sexual comments from Michael Weatherly, star of the network's show "Bull," made her uncomfortable when she was beginning a run as a recurring character.

Apparently CBS is where all the creeps work. Moonves, Charlie Rose, this guy. What a toxic network.

Did you read what the horrific thing he did was?

The absolute rape of Eliza????

He told a rape joke, referenced a threesome in a joke, and made fun of her shoes in front of the crew.

My fricking god he should be hung...

Getting $9.5 million because someone made you uncomfortable seems like a pretty sweet gig.

It made her "uncomfortable." The horror. Apparently, we now have the absolute right to not be made to fee "uncomfortable."

I'm sure that's all it was for them to fork over $9.5 million. That can't be the sanitized "please don't protest us for not canning this dude" version at all!

quote:

She also alleged that Weatherly would make comments publicly about bending her over his leg and spanking her and that when filming a scene with a windowless van, Weatherly said he would take her to his “rape van.”

What? You mean you can't tell a person you hardly know you are taking them to your rape van where you're gonna bend them over and spank them? Is this not America?

quote:

His behavior was enough to make Dushku extremely uncomfortable, causing her to bring it to his attention, the Times reports. But only a short time after their confrontation, Dushku was stunned to learn that her once-promising character had been suddenly written off the show.

Ahh... the old you're fired for bringing us your concerns about a co-worker's behavior maneuver. Bold move Cotton!

quote:

“The settlement of these claims reflects the projected amount that Ms. Dushku would have received for the balance of her contract as a series regular, and was determined in a mutually agreed upon mediation process at the time,” they added.

Holy frick this show must really bring in some serious cash for them.

So what really happened was he was acting like a pig, she told the producers she didn't like it, and they fired her which set themselves up to have to fork out a ton of cash b/c they were about to look like total shitbags for canning a woman who didn't want to hear rape jokes at work. They were also likely in breach of her deal to be a series regular so they painted themselves in a corner. This is no different than a football team having to pay the remainder of a coach's contract that they weren't able to fire with cause.

Yes and when she told the producers they fired her. So this isn't so much as a "metoo" thing as a "they had a shitty reason for firing her and it bit them in the arse" thing.

I don't disagree with that. He didn't harass her. Just told some jokes that made her uncomfortable. They viewed that as her being a troublemaker and cut her loose. Not sure why they wouldn't just tell him to chill, at least around her. Her character wasn't bad and seemed to work well with Bull.

Was she really going to be a regular? She had an episode where she did a favor, and in return Bull had to work 3 of her cases for free. I believe he already did 2 of them (did at least one), so she would have had another 1-2 episodes?
