We saw it this weekend. It was a little predictable but we enjoyed it.
Reminded me of Grand Torino.

I can't stand him doing his lame accents. As soon as I heard him doing another one in this movie, it was a hard pass. Dude thinks he's Meryl Streep.

I still haven't figured out what his accent in the Elvis movie is supposed to be.

I didn’t notice any accents. Maybe it’s just me

An over exaggerated Dutch accent- the real Colonel wasn’t nearly that thick

Trailer looks like hot garbage. I don’t even understand why this movie was even made. Maybe it’s because I have grown to dislike Tom Hanks so much over the years since he stopped making big movies. He can’t carry anything since Captain Phillips. That was 10 years ago now.

The book it’s based on is quite good.

Every trailer I've seen looks incredibly forced.

Its kind of interesting to see how Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks have diverged as they've aged.

Denzel is still putting out quality while Hanks has been putting out shite.

It wasn't a terrible movie but they just had to throw in the whole tranny bit, didn't they. Was that in the book also?

The book (A Man Called Ove) will make the most macho dude cry like a baby. I think it affects men more than women.

The Swedish movie is also pretty good.

The Tom Hanks version is ok but skips part of the story and of course like all media now must deal with transgender. That said it will still make it seem like it is really dusty wherever you are.

No, Mirsad (the Malcolm character in the Hollywood movie) is gay not trans.

Of course there are a lot more characters in the book and really bear little resemblance to those in the Hanks movie.

it was a decent movie for what it was, of course Netflix put a trans person in the movie who is discriminated against its whole life.

I agree... it was totally predictable:

White cranky guy hates everybody.
Trans person!
White rich guy is the villian.
Trans person!!
Immigrant pregnant lady saves the day.
Trans person!!!

It was really a pos and the perfect example of what Tom Hanks has become. A self-absorbed arrogant prick. Has virtually every woke trope in it but the worst thing is the product placement of the EV Chevy Silverado at the end. Product placement much?

uh netflix did not make this movie. it's just on netflix. also the change from a gay person to a trans person makes sense in the story - it has become much more tolerable for a person to be gay in the last several years. i could see why they would update this thread to keep it relevant.

enjoyed the movie. also reminded me of gran torino. i think i liked this one better, mainly because of the strong supporting cast. the guy from mindhunter is great, as is the mexican mother.

I remember that he and his wife were some of the first big name stars to get COVID. He was overseas somewhere and they posted pictures and updates from a hospital. I don’t think he ever got out of his street clothes but some folks were treating it like the couple was doomed. Of course they got better pretty quickly.
