And this image was released. I think this could be even better than HotD.

The tales of Dunk and Egg are underway. Production on the “Game of Thrones” spinoff series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has started in Belfast, Ireland. Five actors are joining the cast, including Finn Bennett (“True Detective: Night Country”), Bertie Carvel (“The Crown”), Tanzyn Crawford (“Tiny Beautiful Things”), Daniel Ings (“Sex Education”) and Sam Spruell (“Fargo”).
Sarah Adina Smith (“Lessons In Chemistry,” “Hanna”) will direct three of the six episodes for Season 1; executive producer Owen Harris will direct the other three episodes.

HBO is gonna milk this cow dry and I’m here for it. Hope we get the first Blackfyre rebellion down the road

This is a small cow with only 3 out of 7-12 books written. The rest are locked behind the winds of winter. We’ll never find out what happened at Summerhall

The source material is way more interesting with more depth than hotd

If this is a hit and stretches 4 plus seasons, there is a very real risk of GOT late season issues.
There is more of a storyline mapped out for his whole life in this case, but the risk is there.

This is the only GoT book I have ever read so I am JACKED up about it.
I refuse to reas ASOIAF because I won't put that much effort into a series that has no ending.
I might read Fire and blood soon. Any other GRRM books yall recommend?

His whole deal is that he is tall and awkward. I think they nailed the casting.

I guess you could say that risk is there for any of these series but this one at least has an end. Maybe they could ruin it if they continue past the books but I don't see why they'd do that.

quote:I disagree. GoT is basically the end of time plotline. Nothing we know of happens after this. Everything they do in these prequels has to fit into what comes after.

Plus, this and HotD are under the complete control of GRRM. No hack entitled rich kids like DnD are in control of the narrative.
As for Summerhall, I don't think that part of their lives even counts as a tale of Dunk and Egg. Obviously, both of them are in it, but it comes so far after the events in the existing books that I just don't think it will be counted as part of the 'hedge knight" phase of their lives. I would think the end of this era will be Egg becoming king and Duncan being named to his kingsguard.

I have only read the dunk and egg series, can you elaborate on what you mean here?

He's tall and awkward, but he's also described as strong in the stories. Those aren't the forearms of a man who swings a sword for a living.

quote:
The tragedy at Summerhall was a fire at Summerhall, a pleasure castle of House Targaryen in the Dornish Marches, in 259 AC. The conflagration caused the deaths of, among others, King Aegon V Targaryen, his eldest son, Prince Duncan Targaryen, and Ser Duncan the Tall, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.
The cause of the fire is as yet unknown, but was connected with King Aegon's desire to restore dragons to the Seven Kingdoms. The last years of his reign were consumed by a search for ancient lore about the dragon breeding of Valyria, and it was said that Aegon commissioned journeys to places as far away as Asshai, with the hopes of finding texts and knowledge that had not been preserved in Westeros.

The Dunk and Egg stories are some of the best ASOIAF content out there. Done right, it'll be great. And since House of the Dragon is pretty good, I have hope.
