Enjoyed the first episode. Looking forward to the flashbacks.

Why would anyone invest their time in this even with 30 minutes episodes?

GoT fell apart when they got ahead of the source material. It may well happen again but it's three seasons away.

I liked it. The Laughing Storm wasn't as awesome as I'd hoped, but the Dunk actor is good and I love the flashbacks. I was wondering how they'd represent Dunk's inner monologue, and they found a fun way to do it.

First episode was pretty charming really. Lead actor seems like a good choice

Watched episode 1 and i have only 2 complaints:

1) hbo again with their obligatory naked guy shot. I can do without that thanks

2) episode starting at 10pm est and not being at least 1 hour is annoying

Other than that...kinda liked it. Not having dragons, magic, or anything too pretentious is refreshing.

Always good to be back in westeros.

Hope we hear “Dunk the Lunk, thick as a castle wall” at some point

It has to happen.

Especially after all the clouts in the ear

A week between episodes is such a drag when they’re only 40 minutes long. The preview for the rest of the season looked promising. Don’t know how the story goes but I’m along for the ride.

Something to complain about.

I really thought for a moment that Duncan the Tall was going to have gay sex with Lyonel Baratheon. I would have still watched if that happened, but I am glad that it didn't. I do think the Dunc shtting scene is going to become a new meme template though. I enjoyed the first episode though.

He did have a psycho gay vibe but Duncan gaying out would destroy a lot of storylines and history.

GRRM has said there are no fewer than seven descendants of Dunk in the main ASOIAF story. Brienne and Hodor are two that we know of.

Knew it! Under 40 minute run time and 6 episodes? and then another 3 years before the next season.

Doubtful. This ain't Stranger Things or Netflix.

The show has something really going for it, and it’s that the two leads are very likable. So many shows get this core requirement wrong.

If a show ends and you want more… that’s a good sign. I want more.

That all being said… the outdoor shite was so unnecessary and bad. Why? And don’t blame me for focusing on a 2 second scene like that… I’m not the one who put it front and center in the first few minutes of getting to know the character. There were other ways of humbling him or signaling to the viewer to not take things so seriously. Why this way? fricking horrible. Really.

I literally turned to my wife and said "What was the purpose of making us see that?"

I thought it was good but my wife who didn't read the books thought it was boring. I know it picks up but hopefully they don't lose the casual viewer before then.

There is a Viking museum in York, England. They have displays of Viking folks engaged in everyday life, including taking a shite. That one got our attention.

But it makes sense when you see they also have an 8" long 1200-year-old fossilized Viking coprolite (turd) that was discovered in York. It's historically significant and has been said to be as important as the crown jewels.

Now, back to our regular programming.

Chapter 1, Book 1

Of all the Game of Thrones "Bran was always going to be king" arguments, this is by far the worst. I've gotten to where I legitimately hate it. This is nothing against you, but it's just so ridiculous to think simply because Bran was the first POV character than he was intended to be king. It's like something a five year old would come up with. "Oooooo he's going to be king, so let's make the FIRST chapter about him, that will blow their minds!" Nothing against you, just saying

But on to this so. Freaking loved the first episode. Everything I wanted in this show already happening.

I was going to be severely disappointed if Dunk wasn't constantly telling Egg that he was going to "clout him on the ear" throughout the show. Already had like four threats in the first episode.

Wait wait wait. What?

Dunk must have been getting it on when he was old and a King’s Guard then.
