All they had to do was listen to the Maesters and ignore the threat of the white walkers. If you didn’t give them a dragon, the wall never comes down because D&D left out the magic horn.

You should have listened to me.
I was informing this board GOT had fallen off in season 5 and got bad in season 6. Higher production values and bam bam pow pow fights + fan service kept normies baited.
My wife just did a rewatch and it's still shocking how it falls off after the first 4 seasons. Also, if you want a real mind frick, watch a couple season 1 episodes and then season 6. Looks like a completely different show in terms of production, cinematography, etc.

resurrecting and creating an undead dragon is awesome. How it happened and why it happened is beyond explanation and the single most ridiculous turn of events of the entire show, and maybe even television history.
Martin gets some blame here too, the story was backed into a corner…either the wall keeps the dead out or it doesn’t. If it does, let the wildlings thru (or don’t) and sit on top of the wall and point and laugh. not much of a TV show there though…
