I was super surprised by it. Didn't expect it to be as good as it was.

Great film. JGL should have been nominated for Best Actor. Maybe not the win, but he did a great job in the film. Loved when Seth Rogan called his girlfriend out in front of him.

Also as a side note, Anna Kendrick is currently in my top 5 for hot actresses.

Great movie... Wish I had more closure... We assume he lived and live happily ever after with the chick?

I thought it was good.

And when Seth Rogen told JGL's old lady to frick off, it was awesome.

i love this movie

but one thing that really irritates me is the romance between JGL and his psych.

That's just ridiculous imo. Not only is it not ethical, but it destroys the movie's realism

I buy it since they are young and she is still in school. She tried to play tough, but she doesn't really have a professional code yet. Her emotions overcame her.

Yeah, that bothered me, too.

I'm training to be a psychologist, and this would absolutely ruin her career before it started.

well she should considering when I took Psych ethics, they discuss ad nauseum about health provider/client relationships. I imagine during her graduate studies, practicum, hiring process, etc they discussed at great length the various rules, regulations, etc regarding provider/client relationships as well

If anything, she would have been MORE likely to not cross that line.

What does it say about her if she starts boning her first client ever? To me it shows that she's a shitty psychologist and untrustworthy.

You know what, I kinda felt the same way when I watched it. It was one of the only things I didn't like about it. I believe she said that a couple of times in the movie, but still...it was just weird that the "love interest" was his therapist.

Also, I know Anna Kendrick is kind of a favorite on here, but I don't think she's terribly cute at all. Well, she is cute, but that's about it is what I mean. Certainly not "top" anything for me. To each his own though, no doubt...but I've seen a good bit of people fawning over her and she's just meh for me.

I actually think I said that verbatim out loud to my TV when I first watched 50/50.

agreed.

Im no screen writer or anything, but this movie feels so real other than that. They could have had a chick in his chemo group that he relates with and draws strength from rather than his therapist if they just HAD to have a love interest.

agree about Anna Kendrick. She's cute, wonderful, but im not going to go crazy googling her.

She has codes.

If she's taking clients, then she needs to get therapy insurance.

I don't get the admiration for Anna Kendrick. She seems "wooden" to me and can't act her way out of a paper bag. I saw Up in the Air too and thought to myself "this" is who they are talking about? Not impressed at all.

Anna Kendrick becoming the love interest wasn't written into the original script, but the studio forced them to film that last scene. They also demanded that JGL and Kendrick kiss as the movie closes, but the actors refused because they wanted the movie to be about cancer and not a love story.

That last scene was silly. I think it was enough that her character went to see that how he was after the surgery.
BTW JGL was really good in this movie and I even liked Seth Rogen in it. (I normally get sick of his schtick pretty quickly)

The dynamic between JGL's and Rogan's characters was awesome. Very realistic IMO as it seemed like how me and my buddies would react to each other in that situation. Great scene when JGL finds the book in Rogan's bathroom about how to be a good friend throughout the whole ordeal
