Hear me out, I am just spitballing here. Maybe magic Turkish Delight represents the biblical concept of sin, which over-promises and under-delivers, leaving us with an insatiable appetite for more and causing us to do destructive things in the pursuit of that sinful desire which has hijacked our better judgment.
Well, it was enchanted. Edmund finished the empty box, and wanted more. The Queen knew he'd want more because it was enchanted. She knew he'd eat and eat and eat it until it killed him. Because it was enchanted. Just like sin.
As Adrian Rogers used to say, Sin will take you farther than you are willing to go . . . It will keep you longer than you wanted to stay, and it will cost you more than you were willing to pay.

I knew it would be her before I opened the thread. It’s cartoonishly predictable at this point.

Just imagine how dumb it would be to have a maned lion, an unmistakably male lion voiced by a woman.
That would be like saying "we want outright trans ideology injected in here. because we don't want CS Lewis fans, Christians, or right wingers"
It is unfathomable that the studio could be that self-destructive.
Only logical take is a April Fools joke

Whelp
Looks like this is no joke. Damn.
LINK
Show is literally going to ostracize it's core audience.
Is this the earliest catastrophic fumble in entertainment history?
Will be seen by dozens of people.
I await the threads about how ist/phobic everyone is for noticing this, and not watching

Straight blasphemy.
Don't touch Narnia. Just don't.
The religious overtones are too obvious to do anything that would downplay that.
Agreed.
I don't care if you're Christian or not, the simple fact of the matter is that if you try and remove the religious symbolism from the Narnia books then what you'll have is practically unrecognizable.
Going back to a previous question, Aslan is only ever referred to as he/him. There is no ambiguity in the books.
Now, if you want to get truly technical, CS Lewis stated that the reason that Aslan is a Lion but also as a suppositional incarnation of Christ was this:
quote:
In one of his last letters, Lewis wrote, "Since Narnia is a world of Talking Beasts, I thought He [Christ] would become a Talking Beast there, as He became a man here. I pictured Him becoming a lion there because (a) the lion is supposed to be the king of beasts; (b) Christ is called "The Lion of Judah" in the Bible; (c) I'd been having strange dreams about lions when I began writing the work."
Based on that logic, if you you wrote a story about a world filled with just women, or at least a matriarchy, then you could - using this very specific concept - depict Christ as a woman in this fictional world you created, as Lewis was basically saying that Christ would be whatever is predominant; however, there are other mentions, like the reference of Jesus as the Lion of Judah, that does not have other parallels.
I guess the same question would be, if there are aliens in the universe, would Jesus visit them, and would He appear before them in the same form they have (whatever that is)?

That’s an absurd take. She’s absolutely brilliant and very versatile.

And has zero business voicing Aslan.

No doubt
But casting her here, tanks this movie.

There are so many obvious men who are great voice actors. Neeson was good as Aslan in the recent movies. In voice acting you could even go and pick a minority, maybe Idris Elba, and I would have no problem with it. You only pick a woman to upset conservatives.

So is Aslan going to be a lioness now, like design-wise? Or are they going tranny Aslan?

Holy hell, that bitch has the weirdest jaw I've ever seen. She looks like she's related to Joker from the Arkham video games.

Correct, this was done purely to be edgy and make some sort of activist statement.
The people in charge of the money have to put their foot down when these idiotic ideas that will obviously hurt the project are purposed.
Thing is, they are scared to say no. Thus the activists get to lit hundreds of millions of dollars on fire over and over again.

You presume an absence of intent.
The goal of the Left is to destroy, demean and demoralize their enemies.
They are intentionally tanking this so that they can annouce no one cares for these stories any more and/or the core audience is rife with racists/sexists (see Rings of Power).

It's all so boring.
"OH ! OH! GOD IS A WOMAN! GOD IS A WOMAN!!!"
Hollywood is so unoriginal. Their seething hatred of religion or traditional religion is so overplayed.

The financiers are in on it. When have they ever stopped any stupid movie idea like this? Never, because they agree with it.
Most, if not all, of the financier class has a great deal in common with your average debaucherous Hollywood lifestyler.
