It's actually not bad so far. Dozed off after 1.5 episodes so will finish it this weekend. Acting is decent enough. Don't love the character changes but that's ok. It's still a super cool weird story that is fun to see fleshed out. That being said there's no way they get into the 2nd book.

Sidenote: anyone else get heavy BLM vibes during that "one" scene?

I heard that this season delves into the second and third books somewhat.

Watched the trailer last night and honestly couldn't follow what the hell was going on lol. But it did look interesting. Plus it has Eiza Gonzalez, so I'll stare at the screen if she's on it

verdict pending...

just got done with the final episode.

i'll reiterate that the casting is dei based as some of the actors don't seem a great fit for the characters they are portraying.

for example...the 'auggy' chick is way too smoking hot and dumb sounding to be the creative brain behind an industry disrupting nanotech company.

The weed smoking black physicist is just a ridiculous character and feels out of place in most of his scenes, despite being a good actor....dumb and dumber should get a ton of blame for this.

the asian cop's son has no role in the show other than to present to viewers that he's gay. more unnecessary dei pandering.

there are some elements of anti-white messaging in the show with certain characters dying who i won't name and also the wallfacer position going to 'diverse' people only.

also, them agreeing to have CNN and their tv personalities in the show really annoys me and doesn't help the show's developing image of being a leftist production...it kinda reminds me of the obama produced 'Leave The World Behind' in that regard.

having said all of that, this was one of the best binge watching experiences i've had in ages. episode 7 nearly had me in tears it was so emotional.

I would very much like to see a season 2, but netflix hasn't green lit it yet...they want to see how S1 performs first as it was very expensive to make. but i doubt we will get it as i don't think enough people will watch it...i think it will turn away anyone who is right of center thanks to the ridiculous casting and leftist messaging

I’m not saying the story is bad. It was that snippet of acting. But I saw some other trailers and it looked fine. So much so I was thinking maybe I got it conflated with something else.

They put the Wallfacer Project in the first season? They must be moving the story along at a good clip.

Actually, while it’s not popular in our current race-hyped stupid culture, I agree with you. I think movies should stay true to the books they were made from as far as casting. If this book was all Chinese, then the cast should be too. If the book was set in Harlem, then the cast should be black-if that was the way it was in the book. Anything else just seems stupid, disingenuous, and woke to me. It’s a turnoff to me wanting to see the movie.

6 episodes in. Enjoying it. Well, except for the Auggie character. She’s terrible. Just seems like a stupid, mad bitch all the time. Everyone else, except the cops son, is fine.

2 episodes in and really enjoying it. Kind of wish they would have released an episode per week with this one just for discussion purposes.

They’ve already got stuff from book three in episode 2. Streamlining the timeframe.

Just started episode four, very interesting, but it has some science “issues”.
