It sure is easy for us to hide behind our screen names and kick people when they are down. Anyone that has followed Zachary the last 6 years will tell you that this level of behavior, that has many descriptions within this thread, has changed alot from 07-08 til today. Since we all live in perfect worlds and work in jobs that do or don't get publicized and critiqued by all of the perfect people out there. just remember.
"If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone"
I am not saying there should have not been punishment, but it is awful easy to sit behind our keyboards and type some random thoughts, with or without merit and fact. I don't necessarily agree with some of the behaviors, but i think enough is enough as it relates to bashing somebody from a keyboard.

was b/c the fans came on the field and this is an automatic post season ban per LHSAA.
That would be TCHS fans coming onto the field. The few ZHS fans that came onto the field were law enforcement professionals trying to restrain TCHS parents from choking ZHS players.
It is really inexcusable all around. However, talk is just that -- talk. Being a catholic school you would think TCHS would 'turn the other cheek.' Having said all of that, given some precedent, I will do a slight change in stance from my OP and say that I think the penalty is too harsh on the kids for both teams.

ticking time bomb is what best describes the ZHS baseball program. He has that reputation amongst his peers and the umps. Sounds like the umps for the game could've done a better job of preventative officiating. The seniors for both squads are the real losers here

Zachary's coach encourages thuggery and laughs when his players taunt.
Thuggery? Taunting? It's fricking baseball. It's not like it's football or basketball. What all could you possibly do?

Exactly, it's more devoid of that type of behavior than the other major sports.. which makes an occurrence like this more egregious, surprising and intolerable. I understand this involved mostly kids, but there were adults present as well who are guilty of immature, garbage behavior. There's an unspoken code of ethics and mutual respect among professional baseball players; something these clowns involved know nothing about.

I have no reason to hide....just stating what I see. I have said since the incident that I put most blame on the coaching staff for encouraging this behavior.
But these kids are almost adults as well....and should have just refused to play the game this way.
ZHS needs to have serious discussions with these coaches to make sure it changes in the future.

Is this the code you are speaking of?

I was about to post some clips myself. I imagine getting really upset over a baseball fight that occurs once every decade for a team is like asking a youth hockey team not to fight even though fighting is a part of the professional game.

What does teurlings being a catholic school have to do with anything? This was a terrible episode between out of control individuals and the schools themselves have nothing to do with this
But your standard being higher for kids just because they attend a catholic school is pretty funny to me. What about the Catholics from Zachary that were fighting? Shouldnt they turn the other cheek too?

No one set a higher standard Mr. STM '89. It was just an attempt at humor. Calm down.
Oh ok. I'm not even sure what this means.

I saw this arrogant attitude on display by Zachary within the last year. I had never seen Zachary play before this. I saw some things going on that surprised me. It wasn't so much taunting but doing some bush league amateurish type stuff. Their players are terrific I still can't understand why this was being done? Other top programs I have seen don't do this kind of stuff. They don't need to push the envelop to win.

Law professionals???? Zachary Fans??? The fight occurred in Monroe. What Zachary fan has jurisdiction in Monroe? They were just fans at that point. As far as their attitude, it's apparent to everyone that is not affiliated with Zachary.

Funny that u think that way because Zachary police officer was not banned by the LHSAA from future games because he was in uniform. It is in the LHSAA finding so apparently they have jurisdiction everywhere. They take an oath to protect and serve 24/7 wherever they are just like doctors do. Whether they are in their police uniforms or not it doesn't matter.

Doesn't matter. They are parents or fans, not LEO's at the time.
Besides, the ZHS principal sounds like a baby in that article.
Mr. Partin would have suspended the team for the year. Boudreaux too.

Y'all can call them whatever y'all want because that is yalls right. Most people just wish that there high school team had the record that ours has. They are very good at playing baseball. And that is what this board should be about. Not bashing them.

Any ZHS people want to tell us about the combat boots worn out on the field before the game ? Total classy move by the usual classy team from ZHS.

That is just ridiculous if u believe that rumor. If combat boots are cleats today, then yes they had there combat boots on.
