Would you fire a head coach if the following year you did not repeat as world champions

You won a world championship a year ago.

The next season, you have a better record than you did when you won a world title.

You are ousted in the one and done playoffs.

Would you fire or keep the coach?

Nope, repeating is probably the hardest thing to do in all of sports.

If the team doesn't get close again for like 3 years, then the coach would have to go.

Keep the coach, though the outcome of the season was ultimately disappointing the team did achieve a better record than the championship season prior and maintained the standard of excellence in that respect, as long as the team isn't falling off a cliff, keeping the coach in this circumstance makes sense defending champs aren't automatically immune from losing in the playoffs, thats how sports goes its a meritocracy no one's entitled to anything
